Are you looking for some way to be occupied this summer other than sitting on your couch and watching TV? If so, help with the EJHS garden! This summer, Mrs Myers is opening the EJHS garden to all middle school students at EJHS, including 8th graders going into high school. The schedule is not yet determined, but it will soon be posted. These gardening sessions will work on harvesting plants, maintaining soil and plant health, and provide hands-on experiences for a skill you can use forever.
The EJHS garden was started about 10 years ago by Mrs. Erikson’s Agriculture class. 2 years ago, the garden was passed onto Mrs. Myers, the 8th-grade science teacher. When Mrs. Myers came to EJHS, she asked for funding to grow the garden area. After getting the funding, they were able to double the size of the garden to what it is now!
If you’re interested, you can work in the EJHS garden this summer! No matter what grade you’re in, you can assist with this awesome project. You will be able to learn about how plants grow in the environment we live in and how to take care of them regularly with the help of other students. Mrs. Myers, the science and Exploring Agriculture teacher for 8th grade, states, “Gardening is something that really anybody can do, grow a plant from a pot and reap the benefits of that, whether it's for aesthetic benefits or if they're actually able to harvest some sort of produce.”
The EJHS garden is something fun for any student to do this summer, whether you have previously worked on the garden or would like to just get off your couch. Gardening is something that people do all over the world and is a crucial part of maintaining a healthy life for everyone. No matter who you are or if you can only come some days, Mrs. Myers would be happy to have you at the EJHS garden this summer! If you would like to work in the EJHS garden, please fill out this form!
