Trump and Vance at the inauguration
On January 6th, Congress certified Trump as the victor of the 2024 election. Trump entered office on January 20th after reciting the presidential oath. It all started when he ran for office in 2016. No one thought he would win. Hillary Clinton was highly favored to beat him and become president. Yet, on election night, Donald Trump won. He lost in 2020, but after four years he pulled a miraculous political comeback in 2024 and won.[FOX news]
Trump’s Inauguration was held inside the capitol building’s rotunda, due to cold weather. It opened with speeches from two Supreme Court justices, Timothy Cardinal Dolan, archbishop of New York, Rev. Franklin Graham, Rabbi Ari Berman, Imam Husham Al Husainy, Pastor Lorenzo Sewell, and Rev. Father Frank Mann.c.
Afterward, Trump spoke in his inaugural address, explaining his agenda [goals] for his presidential term. These goals included three main points. Strengthen the economy through tariffs on China, Canada, and Mexico, remove DEI programs from the government, and strengthen the U.S.-Mexico border, preventing illegal immigration. He says he will remove “wokeness” from our government. The actions he made based on that claim were the demolition of DEI and the government's recognition of only two genders. [CBS News]
The country is divided about these decisions whether they are good decisions. Some people who voted for Kamala Harris don’t like these policies and plans. Mrs. Jones said, “The tariffs will only increase prices.” But the people who voted for Trump think otherwise. Nemo Martone said, “The tariffs will lower prices in America, such as gas prices and house prices.” Those are only some of the issues of today’s debates.

All in all the Inauguration is an important event in America. We can only wonder what the next four years will be like. But for now, Donald Trump has been Inaugurated. His administration will dictate actions in the homeland and in foreign affairs. After all, the people have chosen their leader.
