2023-2024 Financial Support

We have an exciting announcement!! Cohort 7 Trainees will be receiving the full NIH trainee package with stipends and tuition remission next year (Fall 2023 to Spring 2024). We previously reported that you would be receiving hourly wages next year. However, the NIH approved our request to provide remission and stipends next year.

Summer 2023

Hourly Wages (Summer 2023): Trainees receive up to $4,635 (pre-tax) for participation in Immersion as a student employee ($15.45/hour x 300 Hours)

23-24 Academic Year

Remission (Fall, Winter, Spring terms)*

Stipends (September-May): Trainees receive 9 monthly stipends of $1,195

Other Remissions  (22-23 AY)

A student's financial aid cannot exceed the estimated cost of attendance.  As such, Trainees who receive other remissions (total or partial) will see some differences in their remission listed above.  BUILD can only provide remission for any tuition and fee* costs what are not paid by other programs (ex: Diversity Scholarship, Honors, etc.).

If you are receiving any remission from another source please email exitooperations@pdx.edu ASAP

Resident Tuition Assessment

Non-resident transfer Scholars from BUILD institutions (e.g., Clark, NMC, ASCC, UoG, UAA)

BUILD Trainees who transfer from BUILD EXITO institutions will be assessed  RESIDENT tuition rate even if they are non-residents. Trainees will have this benefit as long as they are active in the program and for two years after program completion (undergrad only).

If you withdraw for one term only you will still receive this benefit. However, if you are withdrawn for longer it will be suspended.

EXITO has informed PSU that you qualify for this benefit; email exitooperations@pdx.edu if you don’t see this on your student account
