How to Prepare for SACNAS Workshop (Optional)

For Trainees who registered for SACNAS
We are so excited about the upcoming SACNAS conference! Since so many CIMR and LSAMP students are registered for SACNAS, we are hosting a “Preparing for SACNAS Workshop” to help you get the most out of your conference experience. In the workshop, we will cover:
What to expect at the conference
Identifying your goals for the conference
Planning your conference schedule to achieve these goals and to have fun!
Networking at conferences tips
What to wear and bring tips
And more!

Date/Time: Friday, October 20th at 3-4:30 PM
Location: ASRC 620/30 (Rec Center - 1800 SW 6th Ave, Portland, OR 97201)
Can’t Attend in Person? We highly recommend you attend this workshop in person. However, if you are unable to join physically, there will be a Zoom link offered. Please complete this form to request the Zoom link.

The event is not required but it will be super helpful, especially if you are nervous or have not been to a scientific conference before.
CIMR Activities and BUILD Enrichment
CIMR Activities
Optional and open to all CIMR Trainees (and beyond)
Various Fridays 3-4:30 PM
We are building the Center for Internship, Mentoring, and Research. Part of CIMR will be CIMR hosted activities
These activities will be open to Trainees in all CIMR programs (BUILD, DREAM, PROA, & URISE) and beyond
This can include workshops, speakers, social activities, and more!
The goals of the activities range from
Providing professional development
Providing helpful information and connections for your academic and career goals
Providing social environments to hang out with fellow Trainees

BUILD Enrichment
Required for BUILD Trainees (4 sessions/term). CIMR Trainees invited
Virtual Enrichment: Thursdays, from 4-5:30pm Pacific time. In-person Enrichment: Fridays, from 1-2:30pm Pacific time. Application writing support: Tuesdays 4-5:30pm on Zoom.

What is BUILD Enrichment? Enrichment is a dedicated time to talk with peers, work on your portfolio, and engage in personalized professional development.
Attending 4 enrichment sessions per term is required for BUILD Trainees Only
Trainees from DREAM, PROA, and URISE are welcome but are not required to attend
Trainees can find the enrichment schedule on Canvas (BUILD Trainees only) or the enrichment site (all Trainees)
