The classroom environment is a microcosm of the overall school environment. As such, classrooms should be decorated in a way that creates a safe & secure learning environment. Each teacher is responsible for bulletin boards and displays that will greatly enhance this effort. Bulletin Boards should be changed, each month and should include the state standard and its success criteria to which the work is showcasing. Each teacher is responsible for the bulletin board outside their classroom. Additionally, student work should be displayed throughout the classroom.  This greatly enhances the intellectual curiosities of all students and fosters self-esteem among your class.  Student names should not be visible on hallway/bulletin boards.  Use a coding system or place students names in an inconspicuous manner (such as on the back). 

  All combustible materials/decorations on walls in classrooms and corridors must be limited to 20% of each wall space in compliance of Fire Code (NFPA 101-Sec. 31-3.1). The space allowable should be calculated by figuring the total area (length multiplied by width) of a single wall or ceiling space from corner to corner, excluding windows/doors, then applying 20% to that figure. The final product will determine the amount of combustible material/decorations allowable for that space. No singly connected combustible material (streamers, banners, etc.) may extend over 20 feet or 50% of the length of any hall/corridor (whichever is shorter). Additionally, combustible material shall not protrude over one inch from the vertical surface of any wall.
