     The Oklahoma City School System is committed to the concept that every individual is entitled to full dignity, respect, and value; and that this concept must be translated into reality by deliberate efforts of the employees of this system. Such efforts will emphasize:

• The development of positive feelings of self-worth, self-understanding and security;

• The understanding of and appreciation for the contributions and life styles of the various cultural, racial, ethnic, religious, and socioeconomic groups in our global society;

• The respect for the protection of diversity and dissenting points of view;

• The establishment of a school where democratic processes are supported, developed, and utilized;

• The establishment of methods for sharing feelings, concerns, and goals that will promote common understanding and mutual respect between and among individuals and groups.
