We want ALL staff members to understand our expectations of professionalism. As educators, the way we ACT, SPEAK, and DRESS demonstrates to the community what we are about. So it is imperative for us to provide leadership that models our expectations.
✴️ The way we ACT models what we expect our students to follow and the community to perceive and believe.
Expectations for ACTIONS
Greet students and parents daily with kind actions; smile, handshake, pat on the back, etc.
Treat each other with respect.
Demonstrate the manners we expect of our students.
Remain calm in difficult situations.
🎯 The way we SPEAK models what we expect students to do and the community to believe.
Expectations for SPEAKING
Greet students and parents daily with kind, genuine, encouraging words!
Speak with a voice that is positive and nurturing.
Personally congratulate students, parents, and colleagues for accomplishing short and long-term goals.
Advised to refrain from using Facebook, X, TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat, and even e-mail when addressing school issues.
Keep home dialect at home and academic language at work.
🌈 The way we DRESS models the level of professionalism we receive as educators.
Expectations for DRESS
Dress with the knowledge that educators are one of the first professionals with which students are engaged.
Wear clothes that signify you are a professional even if a person would not know you are an educator.
Wear jeans on days identified as Spirit days or designated by the site principal. Ripped and torn clothing is not permissible.
Your administrators will follow these expectations and expect the MLK staff to do so as well!
If we raise the level of professionalism, we won't be surprised by the increased support of our community!
"If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more, and become more, you are a leader."
-John Quincy Adams-
