All students should be instructed yearly on the proper use of playground equipment and recess behavior (see School-wide Expectations). Expectations should be set in such a way as to make the playground a pleasant and safe place to play. Duty teachers will monitor their students; be alert and walk around. No student will be allowed to re-enter the building without supervision of a teacher. Teachers are expected to summon assistance when there is an uncertainty about the seriousness of an injury or a discipline problem. At no time is the teacher to leave the playground when students are present. Recess will not be held in the classrooms – students should be allowed this outdoor time unless weather prohibits such. If weather does not permit an outdoor recess, students will be taken to designated inside areas for a controlled activity by duty teachers. Areas will be determined at a later date. The principal or designee will make periodic inspections of playground equipment; however, teachers are responsible for reporting hazardous situations to the principal.
The cold temperatue where students should not be outside will be when temperatures reach below freezing, and when temperatures are above 95.
NEVER! Doors going outside to recess should never be propped open!
