NYU inherited the picturesque, 37-acre La Pietra estate in 1994. There are five villas situated on the grounds, which include:
Villa Natalia (dormitory, cafeteria, classroom, lounge space)
Villa Colletta (dormitory, Office of Student Life, lounge space, Health Office)
Villa Sassetti (Conference Center, classrooms)
Villa Ulivi (Academic Center, library)
Villa La Pietra (House museum with a classroom & historic gardens).
Students who live on campus will be housed either in Villa Natalia or in Villa Colletta. Both Villas are part of NYU's historic Villa La Pietra Estate.
All NYU Florence freshman students are required to reside On Campus.

As NYU Florence students, you are welcome to explore the grounds during daylight hours. In the grounds, you'll find several green areas, terraces with tables and chairs, a sports field, and an outdoor exercise area. Students may picnic but not barbecue or ignite fires on the grounds. Climbing any architectural or natural feature (walls, gates, trees, etc.) of the gardens is prohibited. Fountains are also off-limits. After sundown, please stay on the lit paths.
To help keep the entire site clean and orderly, dispose of trash in the appropriate containers and recycle whenever possible.
Smoking is prohibited indoors but permitted outdoors in designated areas only. Please use the ashtrays provided.
NYU Florence features a multi-sport field on campus between Villa Natalia and Villa Ulivi. This space is used for events, tournaments, and clubs, but students are also welcome to use this field on a first-come, first-served basis as follows:
September: 9:00 am - 7:00 pm
October-March: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
April-August: 9:00am - 8:00 pm
The field is equipped for soccer, tennis, volleyball and basketball. The boundary lines on the field are regulated for tennis and five-a-side soccer. There are no boundary lines for volleyball or basketball, and the basketball hoops are not spaced at the regulation distance. Sports equipment may be signed out at the Villa Natalia reception by filling out a form. Students are responsible for bringing back everything they sign out.
A few guidelines apply to the use of the field:
Anyone using the field must wear appropriate footwear (no cleats or high heels permitted, as these could damage the turf).
Smoking on or around the sports field is strictly prohibited.
Trash must be disposed of in the receptacles provided.
No personal items or sports equipment should be left at the field.
Students using the net are responsible for storing it in the appropriate storage container when finished.
Chairs, benches, and other furnishings are prohibited in the field perimeter.
Any issues with the turf, nets, or equipment should be reported to the Facilities Office or security staff immediately.
Students may use the sports field at their own risk. In case of injury, students should contact the Office of Student Life at +39-055-5007450 (after hours follow the prompts to reach the staff member on call)
Students must manage trash and recycling according to the guidelines posted in their residences. Recyclable items must be divided into separate bags/bins for paper/cardboard, glass, plastic/aluminium, compost, and non-recyclable. Please follow the signs in your rooms for appropriate recycling. Failure to dispose of trash or recycle properly may lead to fines and disciplinary action.
