DEI: Get Involved!
IDEA Cafè
IDEA Cafè is a joint initiative between staff, faculty and students to address issues of inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility at NYU Florence. This is a space where students bring up issues related to these topics and create educational as well awareness programs and events for the NYU Florence community.
Past events organized by this working group include events around Trans Awareness Week, Solidarity Week and Women's Day among others.
OGI - Office of Global Inclusion
NYU’s commitment to building and strengthening a university-wide culture of global inclusion, diversity, belonging, equity, and access (GIDBEA) led to the creation of the Office of Global Inclusion, Diversity, and Strategic Innovation (OGI). As part of the Office of the President, the Office of Global Inclusion provides expert consultation, resources, and innovative strategies to help guide the University—and its uniquely global and diverse student, faculty, staff, administration, and alumni communities—toward a more inclusive future.
The OGI's newsletter includes many events, jobs, learning opportunities, and funding. Join it!
CMEP - Center for Multicultural Education and Programs
The NYU LGBTQ+ Center creates a welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, and alumni to engage with and develop their understanding of LGBTQ+ communities through programs, events, learning and development, support, resource sharing, and consultation.
Their newsletter OUTPOST includes many events, jobs, and learning opportunities.
NYU BeTogether Ambassadors Program
The NYU BeTogether Ambassadors Program provides a framework for those seeking greater opportunities to transform our campus. Join to receive the latest updates and guidance for how to take action to create globally connected inclusive communities—through monthly convenings and briefings within a network of ambassadors across NYU.
Environmental and Racial Justice Network Seed Funding
The Environmental and Racial Justice Network (ERJN) provides seed funding for projects that address issues at the intersection of environmental and racial justice. Funding of up to $2,000 is available for qualifying projects led by undergraduate or graduate students. Students are encouraged to form teams that include other students, staff, and faculty across different schools or campuses, and are required to have a faculty advisor. Along with the funds, awardees will also receive two workshops to ensure long-term impact of their project along with one-on-one check-ins with the Office of Sustainability and Office of Global Inclusion. Awardees are expected to provide a mid-year update at the end of the Fall 2022 semester as well as a final presentation at the end of the Spring 2023 semester.
