Museums
All state museums (Uffizi Gallery and the Accademia Gallery) offer free entrance to visitors who are disabled and an accompanying person but you need to show certification of a disability.
City Museums and most major churches offer free entrances to a person with a disability plus one accompanying person (except for Opera del Duomo Museum, Giotto’s Bell Tower, the Baptistery, and San Marco Museum)
- Medici Chapels: It has wheelchair ramps on the ground floor and an elevator that takes you from the Crypt to the first floor
- Accademia Gallery - wheelchair accessible; there are ramps located near the David statue and other exhibitions

Do I need to send my documentation to NYU Florence to receive accommodations?
No, you must send this documentation to the Moses Center and The Office of Student Life will create a customized plan according to your accommodations.
What steps do I need to take to receive accommodations as a first year student or visiting student from another university?
You would need to contact the Moses Center in the NYC campus and notify them of any study abroad plans before receiving any type of accommodations for when you arrive at your global campus; the specific testing you might need might not be the same as in America while living abroad.
What steps do I need to take if I have a temporary disability?
The NYU Florence Campus Nurse, Franchesca Lacchia, will be able to assist you (for minor health related situations at the Health Office, located at the ground floor of Villa Colletta) to receive a medical note on how long you need the accommodations for.
Possible accommodations include:
- Taxi accommodations: 75 euros in taxi coverages
The OSL will follow up to figure out whether additional accommodations are necessary.
Who do I contact for Academic-based Accommodations?
Academic accommodations are available for students with documented and registered disabilities. Please contact the NYU Moses Center for Student Accessibility (+1 212-998-4980 or mosescsd@nyu.edu) for further information.
Students who are requesting academic accommodations are advised to reach out to the Moses Center as early as possible in the semester for assistance.

What resources are available?
Students who are requesting physical accommodations are advised to reach out to the NYU Moses Center prior to their arrival to NYU Florence for assistance. The Office of Student Life manages the physical and mental health resources available to students and may help with coming up with a plan to accommodate them. Possible resources include: - Taxi reimbursements (up to 75 euros)
- Off road electric wheelchair to class or for on-campus activities
- Use of headsets for everyone during OSL activities or trips
