Community Engagement

Community Engagement opportunities are offered to NYU Florence students with various community partners across a wide array of activities. Community Engagement placements allow students to engage in a deeper and more meaningful way with the Florentine community and provide them the opportunity to develop precious interpersonal and intercultural skills that can form an integral part of their development.

Students carry out volunteer activities in Florentine schools, social organizations, and museums. They support English language teachers in local Florentine elementary, middle, and high schools, conducting weekly lessons in the classroom. They help support local organizations like Le Curandaie's projects for women and children in the Le Cure neighborhood, support the elderly day program at the Misericordia di Rifredi, and are part of the Caritas soup kitchen team, which provides meals for people in need. Students provide free guided tours of Florence's unparalleled cultural heritage in several local museums.

Interested students should complete the Community Engagement Google Form no later than Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at 3:00 pm CET. 

Please note that ALL volunteer activities require a firm commitment by the student volunteer, meaning that students are strongly encouraged to reflect upon their commitment to these activities and we ask that students complete the activity that they begin.  

Once you have completed the form, please select one individual interview time on the Community Engagement Interviews Bookable Appointment Schedule.

Once you have made the appointment you will receive a confirmation email with a Google calendar invitation.

Please make sure your calendar settings are set to Central European Time (CET)!

Interviews will take place in-person at the table in front of Villa Ulivi. In case of rain or bad weather, please meet Enrico or Megan at the reception of Villa Ulivi.
