A limited number of Global Learning Awards will be available to eligible NYU degree students who have been selected for a Professional Development Opportunity (PDO) at NYU Florence.
Please note that visiting students are not eligible to receive a Global Learning Award. However, they are still encouraged to apply for a PDO if interested in the opportunity.
Further details will be shared with NYU students upon their selection for a PDO position. Once eligibility for the award is confirmed and processed in coordination with NYU’s Office of Global Programs (OGP) and the Office of Financial Aid (OFA), students will be notified of their status and the award amount which may be up to $1,400. Awards are typically posted to students’ NYU Bursar accounts in April (for spring programs) and November (for fall programs), following successful completion of the PDO program. Disbursement is conditional upon confirmed eligibility, satisfactory completion of the assigned responsibilities, and a final evaluation with the tutor.
If a student’s financial aid package is adjusted with additional scholarships for the same semester at the time of posting, the Global Learning Award amount may be reduced accordingly. The award is specific to confirmed, in-person enrollment at NYU Florence and cannot be deferred to a future term.
Once the award is posted, students will receive an automated notification from OFA indicating that an update has been made to their financial aid account. The award will be visible in Albert under the student’s Bursar account and will be applied first toward any outstanding balance. Any remaining funds will be refunded to the student.
Due to limited availability and the competitive nature of the application process at NYU Florence, not all applicants will receive a PDO or qualify for a Global Learning Award.
Please note that PDOs are not a guaranteed source of financial aid and are not affiliated with the Federal Work Study Program, which is only available on the NYU Washington Square campus. Students are strongly encouraged to plan their finances carefully and consult with the NYU Financial Aid Office at their home campus to explore additional funding options for their semester abroad.
