The Writing Center is located in Aula Belvedere on the second floor of  Villa Ulivi at NYU Florence. However, it also offers sessions remotely via zoom.

How do I schedule an appointment?

Please schedule an appointment from the NYU Student Portal or email: florence.writingcenter@nyu.edu

Appointment options appear at unusual times, is this normal?

No, it is not normal!

For students in Florence, make sure your Google Calendar settings are set to the Central European Time Zone (Calendar settings - Time zone - Italy).

What should I bring to my appointment?

Please bring a hard copy of your assignment or your notes, your assignment instructions, and any specific questions.

How should I prepare for my upcoming appointment?

Please upload the paper that you wish to discuss at least 2 hours before your appointment. This draft can take many forms: a list of ideas or outline, rough paper in its initial stages, well-polished assignment.  Submitting your work in advance is crucial; it enables your Consultant to carefully review and reflect upon it before your session.

May I submit my resume?

We are happy to also give feedback on non-course work such as resumes, letters of motivation.

Please note that the Wasserman Center for Career Development is also available to students.

How often may I attend the Writing Center?

Students may attend one session per day.

How many papers can I submit per session?

We ask students to submit one paper per session.

Does the Writing Center get busy? If I can’t get an appointment, is there an alternative?

The Writing Center usually gets busy as midterms approach and at the end of every semester. During this period, students should also consider the possibility of remote tutoring via the main NYU campus. As part of NYU’s Expository Writing Program in the College of Arts and Science, the Global Writing Center offers writing support for any student in NYU’s Global Network. Please email: writingcenter@nyu.edu or consult  https://cas.nyu.edu/content/nyu-as/cas/ewp/writing-center.html

How do I cancel an appointment?

If you cannot avail of your scheduled appointment, it is important that you cancel it at least 6 hours prior to the starting time on the appointment platform. This will make the space available to others. Please note that students who fail to cancel or simply do not attend their scheduled appointment (2 or more times) will be denied access to the service for two weeks. Appointments are non transferable i.e. a student may not pass his/her appointment to another student.
