Preliminary Administrative Services Credential (PASC) Program Standard 6: Preparing Candidates to Master the Administrator Performance Expectations (CAPE)

PASC Program Standard 6 is met as follows:

The Mills College at Northeastern program's focus on mastering the CAPE standards are connected to the program’s broader goals of effectively leading a school community and supporting all students in meeting state-adopted academic standards (See ASC Course Matrix). The table below lists the ASC program’s required courses and the link to syllabi for each course below delineates the Mills College at Northeastern’s program’s vision and goals.

The ASC program’s coursework themes, readings and activities support the development of the CAPE standards listed below. 


CALIFORNIA ADMINISTRATOR PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS  (CAPE)

 

Standard 1: Development and Implementation of a Shared Vision: Education leaders facilitate the development and implementation of a shared vision of learning and growth of all students.

 

Standard 2: Instructional Leadership: Education leaders shape a collaborative culture of teaching and learning informed by professional standards and focused on student and professional growth.

 

Standard 3: Management and Learning Environment: Education leaders manage the organization to cultivate a safe and productive learning and working environment.

 

Standard 4: Family and Community Engagement: Education leaders collaborate with families and other stakeholders to address diverse student and community interests and mobilize community resources.

 

Standard 5: Ethics and Integrity: Education leaders make decisions, model, and behave in ways that demonstrate professionalism, ethics, integrity, justice, and equity and hold staff to the same standard.

 

Standard 6: External Context and Policy: Education leaders influence political, social, economic, legal and cultural contexts affecting education to improve education policies and practices.

 

The program's approach to CAPE mastery aligns with its overall mission and vision of developing a collaborative vision through shared leadership practices that fosters participation from all educational stakeholders, developing professional learning communities, developing a trauma-informed school culture and trauma-informed school practices and policies, promoting a student-centered approach to teaching and learning and a culturally responsive curriculum, reflective practice and ethical decision-making and leadership practices, a focus on feedback and formative and summative assessment, an emphasis on parental and family engagement and participation in organizational decision-making, understanding and improving school policies and culture, knowledge of managing operations and resources and leading organizational systems for equity, access and inclusion of diverse learners and their families and communities.
