We understand that the move from primary to secondary school is a significant milestone, and we are committed to ensuring a smooth and supportive transition for all our new S1 pupils.
All P7 pupils are invited to attend a two-day induction visit to the school.
This year, the induction days will take place on Wednesday 10th and Thursday 11th June 2026.
During these days, pupils will:
Follow their new S1 timetable and attend a variety of classes
Meet their Guidance Teacher and participate in a session focused on support and wellbeing
Attend a DYW (Developing the Young Workforce) Fayre
Be introduced to their S6 Buddies and begin building relationships with their future peers
This experience helps pupils to familiarise themselves with the school environment, meet staff, and begin forming new friendships.
At the end of the second induction day, we host a P7 Information Evening for Parents and Carers.
This provides a valuable opportunity to:
Meet key members of staff
Ask any questions about the transition process or the school day
Enjoy a tour of the school led by our senior pupils
Our transition programme starts well before the induction days.
A member of the Senior Management Team (SMT) meets with every P7 class teacher, between January and March, to gather important information about each pupil to support their individual transition.
Our Guidance Teachers visit every P7 class to introduce themselves, answer questions, and start building positive relationships with pupils ahead of the move to secondary.
We work closely with all our partner primaries to ensure that every pupil feels confident and supported as they take this exciting step into secondary school life.
