S4 pupils have 4 Periods of English each week, and the majority will be presented for National 5 English. If a pupil does not meet the SQA Deadline for the Portfolio Essay, they are disqualified from sitting the SQA Exam. If a change of level is required during the course of the year a formal process led by the P.T. and the class teacher is required to be followed.
Teachers also provide all pupils the opportunity to achieve the separate National 5 Literacy Unit during the course of the year.
S5/6 pupils have 6 Periods of Higher English each week.
If a pupil does not meet the SQA Deadline for the Portfolio Essay, they are disqualified from sitting the SQA Exam.
Withdrawal from the course is advised if a candidate’s grade reflects that they are not coping, through class assessment, attendance and Prelim results. A formal process led by the P.T. and the class teacher is required to be followed.
