At BGE level, Home Economics provides pupils with essential life skills through practical, hands-on learning. From healthy eating and nutrition to textile skills, pupils explore how to make informed choices that support their wellbeing and that of others. Lessons are designed to build confidence, creativity, and responsibility in everyday living, while reinforcing key areas of the Health and Wellbeing curriculum. Whether preparing simple meals or understanding sustainability in the home, Home Economics equips young people with knowledge and skills for life.
We are proud to offer Home Economics as part of our Gaelic Medium Education, ensuring pupils can learn key life skills through the medium of Gaelic. In S1 & S2, learners experience the full breadth of the Home Economics curriculum while developing their confidence and fluency in Gaelic. Lessons are delivered in an immersive language environment, supporting both practical skill development and language acquisition. From cooking and nutrition to sustainable living, pupils gain valuable knowledge while deepening their connection to Gaelic culture and heritage.
