Mentors in Violence Prevention (MVP) Scotland is a peer-mentoring programme that encourages young people to speak out against bullying, discrimination, gender-based violence, and other forms of harmful behaviour. The approach is based on empowering pupils to become active bystanders—equipped with the skills and confidence to safely challenge unacceptable behaviour and support others.
Through MVP, senior pupils are trained as mentors and deliver sessions to younger year groups, creating space for open conversations around respect, relationships, and personal responsibility. Topics include healthy friendships, consent, online behaviour, and the impact of stereotypes and prejudice.
The programme plays a vital role in promoting a safe, inclusive and respectful school culture, helping all pupils to feel supported, valued, and empowered to make a positive difference in their community.
