Learning Beyond the Classroom...
At our school, RME/RMPS isn't just something that happens in the classroom — it's an opportunity to explore real-world beliefs, values, and ethical issues in meaningful and engaging ways.
As part of our learning, we organise visits to local places of worship, including churches and mosques. These visits help students experience different faiths in context, ask questions directly to members of religious communities, and gain a deeper understanding of religious practices and traditions.
We also take part in community projects, such as writing and delivering Christmas cards to people experiencing homelessness. These activities encourage compassion, empathy, and an understanding of social justice — all key themes in RMPS.
Throughout the year, we invite guest speakers from various backgrounds, including faith leaders, charity workers, and people with lived experiences of topics we explore in class. These visits help bring our learning to life and allow students to hear a range of perspectives.
These opportunities help students connect what they learn in RME/RMPS to the wider world and reflect on their own values and responsibilities in society.
