MCR Pathways – Mentoring & Support at The Nicolson Institute
At The Nicolson Institute, we are proud to be part of the MCR Pathways programme, which helps young people to build confidence, develop life skills, and realise their full potential through mentoring and structured support.
Group Work – S1 & S2
Our group work programme is specifically designed for S1 and S2 pupils. These sessions focus on a range of themed areas including:
Health and Wellbeing
Resilience
Relationships
Life Skills
Community Work
Preparation for Future Mentoring
These engaging sessions create a supportive environment where young people can develop key skills and build connections with their peers.
Mentoring – S3 to S6
From S3 to S6, pupils have the opportunity to be matched with a mentor for one-to-one weekly sessions in school. Mentors provide encouragement, help build aspirations, and offer consistent, trusted support throughout the school years.
Talent Tasters – S3 & S4
Pupils in S3 and S4 can also take part in Talent Tasters – short, hands-on experiences that give them the chance to explore different career paths, industries, and college opportunities. These tasters are designed to inspire ambition, broaden horizons, and help young people discover their strengths and interests.
Clubs & Drop-ins
To further support our young people, we also run:
Breakfast Club – every morning from 8:30am to 8:50am
Lunch Clubs – regular sessions providing a welcoming and social space
Breaktime Drop-ins – a chance to pop in for a chat, support or just a quick hello
Follow our journey and see what we're up to on our MCR Pathways Facebook Page.
