NPA Business and Marketing Level 5

What is NPA Business and Marketing? 

The National Progression Award (NPA) in Business and Marketing at SCQF Level 5 is a practical and engaging course designed to introduce pupils to key aspects of the modern business environment. It provides a strong foundation in both business theory and real-world skills that are relevant to further education or employment. 

What will pupils learn? 

Throughout the course, learners will develop core business knowledge and essential skills by exploring the following topics: 

• Understanding Business 

• Marketing: Basic Principles and Applications  

• Management of Marketing and Operations  

• Skills for Customer Care 

• Promoting a Business 

In addition, the course helps pupils build valuable skills such as: 

• ICT and digital skills 

• Research and presentation techniques 

• Communication and teamwork 

• Employability and problem-solving skills 

Assessment  

There is no final exam; instead, pupils are continuously assessed through both open and closed book assessments.  

Throughout the year, pupils will learn through: 

• Coursework 

• Homework tasks 

• Group work 

• Projects 

These learning activities help pupils build the skills and knowledge needed to complete each assessment successfully. 

To gain the full NPA qualification (equivalent to National 5 at Grade C), all units must be successfully completed.  

Progression and Opportunities 

This qualification not only builds confidence and business awareness, but also opens up future pathways. Pupils can progress to: 

• College courses in business, marketing, or administration 

• Modern Apprenticeships 

• Employment in customer service, retail, or business support roles
