What will I study?
This course will help you get the right skills for learning English as a second language. You will learn how to read, write, listen and speak in a variety different situations and settings. Your critical and creative thinking skills will also improve as well your cultural awareness.
The course has two compulsory units.
ESOL for Everyday Life
In this unit you will:
develop language skills needed for everyday life in routine personal, social and work-related settings
develop skills in reading, writing, listening and speaking using simple English language.
ESOL in Context
In this unit you will:
develop language skills needed for routine work and study related settings
develop skills in reading, writing, listening and speaking using simple English language. This unit can be suited to meet your personal needs.
How will I be assessed?
Your teacher or tutor will assess your work on a regular basis throughout the course. Items of work might include:
practical work – reading, speaking or listening to texts
written work – producing simple texts.
You must pass both units to gain the course qualification.
