Dear Summerside Families,
Parent-teacher conferences are right around the corner. Our goal is to meet with every parent in some way, in person, on the phone, or virtually during our fall conference times. See below for links to sign up to meet with your child's teacher on either Thursday, October10, or Wednesday, October 16 from 5:00 - 8:30 p.m. We encourage all of our Summerside families to connect with your child's teacher in the fall to continue to build our partnership with you to ensure your child is learning, leading, and succeeding this year.
Thank you to all who were able to join the WC Town Hall at Holly Hill. Your voice in helping us Blaze New Trails in West Clermont is so important. Please register for one or both of the next WC Town Halls at Merwin, on Wednesday, October 9, and WCMS on Thursday, November 14th. Preschool, First and Second Grade families, the discussions and decisions we are having at our town halls directly impact our students' learning environment and experiences as they join the middle school in the not so far future. Please use this RSVP LINK to sign up to attend our Town Halls.
We hope all join us for the WCHS Homecoming Parade this coming Friday, October 4! Line up begins at 4:00 pm with our PTO in the Christian Church across the street on Bach Buxton and Redleaf Drive if you want to walk in the parade to represent Summerside or you can line the route to cheer us on. We ask all parents who are dropping off students for the parade to park in the high school parking lot and walk across. The parade will leave the church parking lot, come across Bach Buxton into the high school campus, turn left into the staff parking area and then wind around the stadium. Our very own Ms. Patricia Emery is the Grand Marshall of the parade in celebration of her starting her 50th year teaching this year!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Courtney & Mrs. Edwards
P.S. Be sure to scroll all the way through every update each week. New this week, we are going to add a small "New " next to first run information and to consistently keep our updates up to date and easy to connect with as busy parents. There is New information throughout, including our District Updates to check out!
We are a district on the RISE and Summerside has a lot to be proud of in our work to reach higher outcomes for our students! We continue to work hard to know every student's story, strengths, and needs, and we respond in big ways every day, in every way. Summerside's State Report continues to show our progress in all measures as we increased our overall rating this year to four stars and increased our Progress, Gap Closing, and Early Literacy rating to four stars. This is no small feat as it takes our collective commitment to ensure every child is learning, leading, and succeeding every day!
As a West Clermont School District, we are working hard to reach our Portrait of a Graduate outcomes for all learners!
We ranked 64 places higher than last year
Our growth score of 8.81 put us in the top 11% growth rate in the state
Our collective Performance Index is the highest it has been since covid at 85.1.
Our Gap closing measure is at 5 stars!
We encourage ALL families to partner with their child's teacher during the fall conferences.
PTO is hosting a book fair during conferences on 10/16. We encourage you to celebrate your child's hard work with a special trip to the book fair that evening as all are welcome, even if your conference night is scheduled the week prior.

The West Clermont School District has released two more videos in our Understanding School Finances video series. In part 7 we explore transparency and walk through how we best serve our stakeholders as best we can. We are passionate about being open, accountable, and honest when it comes to how we spend taxpayer dollars. In part 8, we walk through all the resources that are available to the community that provides transparency on district spending and revenue. This includes online resources, financial reports, and more! Ensuring that these resources are readily available to the community is essential in maintaining our commitment to transparency and accountability when it comes to school finances at West Clermont.

As we round out the first month of back to school we want to take a minute to remind all parents, students, and staff about our safety and threat protocols.
The West Clermont School District takes the safety of our students and staff very seriously. It is essential that we all play a role in ensuring our schools remain safe and positive places for learning. So if you see something, say something!

As the new year begins, we wanted give you more information about a groundbreaking development in West Clermont’s commitment in addressing the growing mental-health crisis.
The district is renewing and expanding partnerships with mental health agencies to ensure that any student with need has access to comprehensive services starting as early as preschool and continuing through 12th grade without any additional cost to the district. Beginning with the 2024-2025 school year, these new partners will provide the following services to any student in need, with parent / guardian permission.
● As you are aware, Child Focus has been a valued partner of the district in this important work for many years. Child Focus will provide prevention (drug/alcohol/tobacco and suicidal ideation) and crisis services, and will continue to be the district’s community service provider for families not choosing to have the school-based services described
below.
● Necco will serve students preschool through 8th grade. Every elementary school will be staffed with at least one full-time, licensed therapist and two case managers. West Clermont Middle School will have 2 therapists and four case managers.
● Best Point will serve students at West Clermont High School, including two therapists and a care coordinator.
● Therapists will provide assessment, individual and group counseling, and crisis intervention. They additionally will assist in completing assessments / referrals for students needing medication management and/or wraparound services.
● Case managers and care coordinators will provide skills building in the classroom, parent / guardian skills building, coordination of treatment in collaboration with therapists.
