January is National School Board Appreciation Month. We are so fortunate to have such a dedicated school board in the West Clermont School District with members who are committed to fostering excellence with every learner, every day, every way!
This month our WC Board of Education recognized our incredible kindergarten team for their collaborative efforts to meet individual student needs, ensuring all have a strong foundation as learners and leaders. Our kindergarten team represents all of the staff at Summerside in our efforts to know every student's name, strengths, story, and needs so we can respond and help all be on the rise!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Courtney & Mrs. Edwards

We encourage all students to learn about how they can impact the world around them through their leadership in how they take care of themselves, others, and Summerside. Classrooms spent time honoring and learning about the importance of the impact that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. continues to have in our daily lives as we work to create excellence in every learner by using a calm, consistent, and caring approach in a safe and welcoming environment every day, in every way.
We encourage all to take time on Monday, January 20, to learn more and serve others to continue to bring us all together.

Our PTO provided an incredible opportunity on Monday as all students were invited to participate in "Beaks and Talons" presented by Raptors, Inc. This was a celebration for reaching well beyond our $20,000 Summerstride goal and our students were enthralled with all they learned at both assemblies. Raptors, Inc. is a local preserve that is open to the public in the warmer months, typically March - October, and visiting there is always free.
Our PTO also arranged for two highland calves to visit some of our Summerside Eagles in the afternoon.
Thank you to our incredible PTO for always seeking ways to engage our students and broaden their understanding of our world!

West Clermont School Board Votes to Put Master Facilities Plan on May Ballot
The West Clermont School Board voted 5-0 to put the Master Facilities Plan on the May 6, 2025 ballot.
The Master Facilities Plan which is a direct result of stakeholder input and urgency addresses the following challenges: overcrowding, aging facilities, inequity between school buildings, and the diverse needs of our growing student body.
The plan realigns the school buildings for efficiency and maximizes available space along with the following:
● Building new 5-6 and 7-8 buildings that would be connected to the current middle school campus (Moving the 5th graders out of elementary school and into the 5-6 building)
● Building a new elementary school by streamlining the number of elementary buildings from 7 to 6
● Investing in current elementary buildings through additions and renovations. (Amelia, W-T, and Clough)
● Making district-wide upgrades to safety, technology, and furniture
Since 2021, West Clermont has engaged with district stakeholders for feedback and discussion about challenges facing our district and ways to address those in the future. We have conducted surveys, focus groups, Town Hall meetings, and building tours. We also developed a Citizens Advisory Commission and Community Advisory Team to study School Purpose & Design and Facilities. Through collected input, in conjunction with a financial partnership with the State of Ohio (OFCC) (which will result in a reduced impact on local taxpayers), this opportunity will be placed before the community on May 6, 2025.
If passed in May the plan would be funded with a combined property (1.76 mills) and earned income tax levy (0.25%). This combined levy creates a more diversified tax, while providing the needed funding.
