Dear Summerside Families,
Our Momentum is real and recognized at the state level at Summerside and it is something we should ALL be very proud of together! As noted in a recent district update, Summerside Elementary received state recognition for the incredible work we do together to commit to excellence with every learner, every day, in every way! This award is recognition of our intentional efforts to ensure students are growing academically and in their leadership skills to build into our Portrait of a Graduate outcomes. Thank you for your partnership in your child's education to ensure they are at school every day, ready to learn, and supported at home in their work and progress.
One key way to support is to connect with your child's teacher. See below for the link to sign up for a parent-teacher conference. Another great way is to ensure they are completing three Zearn lessons a week and ready every night for 15/20 minutes.
We are so proud of the work we are doing together!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Courtney & Mrs. Edwards
Two elementary schools within the West Clermont School District were honored by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce with the Momentum Award for the 2023-2024 school year.
Holly Hill Elementary and Summerside Elementary Schools earned the Momentum Award for its results on the 2023-2024 Ohio School Report Cards. This award recognizes schools and districts that improved their performance index by 3 or more points from the previous year, while also achieving a value-added rating of 4 or more stars.
“I’m so proud of the dedication and hard work of the administrators and teachers at Holly Hill and Summerside Elementary schools. Our staff is committed to academic excellence and improving our programs while building relationships with students and families,” said Natasha Adams, Superintendent of West Clermont Schools.
West Clermont School District, Willowville Elementary, and West Clermont Middle School were previously honored with the Momentum Award for the 2022-2023 school year.
Students from Summerside and all over the district will be showcasing student learning opportunities!

New
New Our fifth graders are learning the laws of gravity and physics in science class with Mrs. Glenn!
New Data Our goal for the 2024 - 2025 school year is to maintain a daily attendance rate of 95% or higher and lower our chronically absent rate to less than 20%. Below is Summerside's January attendance data.
A reminder of our district attendance policy and insight into absences can be found in the WC Student and Parent Handbook.
As we get past the flu/sick season and get outdoors again, we are looking forward to a healthier March and seeing an increase in our daily attendance rate.
We encourage all families to partner with their child's teacher during conferences.
This event will not only cover course offerings for next year but also help families prepare for this important transition. We’d love your input! Please fill out THIS FORM to share what you'd like to see included.
In mid-March, we’ll send out an RSVP form so we can plan accordingly.
Looking ahead, we’ll also host a 6th Grade Open House in August, and students will participate in WEB Days at the start of the year to help them connect with new faces and ease into their new learning environment.
We can’t wait to see you there!

West Clermont's Supervising Nurse Wins State Award
The Ohio Association of School Nurses has just named West Clermont’s Supervising Nurse, Heidi Sandlin, BSN, RN, LSN, NCSN as its School Nurse Administrator of the Year for 2024-2025!
This prestigious, statewide award, is a testament to Heidi’s leadership, dedication, and knowledge.
This is Heidi’s fourth year at West Clermont where she oversees 4 nurses and 12 health clinic assistants. Heidi collaborates with HealthSource of Ohio at the Wolves Wellness Center which provides convenient, quality healthcare for students in the district. During the last four years Heidi has also been instrumental in partnering with Cincinnati Children’s Hospital to bring specialty medical care to children in this region via their Mobile Care Center. She has also strengthened the district’s AED plan and is currently working with Project Adam to get the Heart Safe School designation.
“I am honored to receive this award. I love what I do. Healthy children make better learners and I am grateful that I get to impact student outcomes. I am also grateful for the support of the West Clermont administration because they support and encourage me as I strive to help make West Clermont Schools a place where all children can be successful at school,” said Heidi Sandlin.
Heidi earned her Bachelors in nursing (BSN) from The University of Cincinnati and her School Nurse Certification from Wright State University. She earned her National School Nurse Certification in November 2023. Before coming to West Clermont, Heidi worked for 10 years at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and began school nursing in 2007 at Reading Community City Schools. She is currently President Elect of the Ohio Association of School Nurses.
West Clermont is excited to announce our second annual State of the Schools Showcase on March 4, 2025, from 6-8 PM at West Clermont High School! The event is free and open to everyone in our community and will feature students from all of our elementary schools, middle school, and high school!
The night will begin with an opening keynote by Superintendent Natasha Adams, followed by student learning exhibition booths, performances by student music groups, and a visual arts showcase! Following the keynote in the auditorium, guests will have the opportunity to explore/visit the exhibition booths, watch the performances, and browse the artwork. During the student learning exhibition booths, students will showcase their learning and learning journey and share their projects/example work. As you may know one of our big communication focuses for 2025 is producing and sharing more stories about West Clermont. We want to highlight the great things happening in our district and what sets us apart but we need your help to make this a reality! Please send us stories that you know of (happening in your classrooms, school buildings, sports, extracurriculars, the arts, alumni, community partnerships, etc ) that you think would make a great story for us to highlight. We are looking for stories that not only showcase our strengths as a district but ones that also have a human connection. You can upload photos/videos/and information about your story idea/submission. We may use them in various ways - they could be used as longer stories (see below) or as shorts on social media. The more information (WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, HOW) helps us out.
Here’s how to upload:
