Dear Summerside Families,
Students and staff at Summerside opened the week honoring and recognizing the sacrifices of those who served and continue to serve our country in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and Space Forces. Our PTO hosted a Veterans Day breakfast, allowing students to invite special guest Veterans in their families and lives to Summerside, giving us the opportunity to honor and celebrate their service as well as show all of our students that heroes walk among us in our daily lives.
Our entire student body and staff lined our first floor, waving flags and giving thanks as the Veterans who were able to join us paraded through, showing our students how to strive for our WC Portrait of a Graduate outcomes. We are guiding our students to create the lives they desire, to continue to be courageous in the face of challenges, to turn ideas into action, to pursue personal happiness and joy, and to do what is right even when no one is watching. Those who have served and continue to serve certainly model these attributes in their daily lives. Thank you to our dedicated PTO for providing this opportunity for our school to pause, give thanks, and honor Veterans Day and our Veterans in such a special event.

Mr. Bob is a legend at Summerside as he greets our students every morning as they arrive and sends them off every afternoon waving from his driveway. Our students love Mr. Bob and we all appreciate the sense of love and security he offers in his post every day.

VETERANS DAY

New SHOUT OUT to our Second Grade! Last week 60% of all second graders completed 3+ lessons.

95% of second-grade students in Mrs. McGee’s completed 3+ lessons!
Students in the 4th grade extended their recess to celebrate their Zearn work to complete 3+ lessons a week with Mrs. Criss!
We are striving for ALL students to engage in 3 or more ZEARN lessons each week! Many students are doing this during independent work time in math class but are also encouraged to engage in this work at home each week, especially during our shortened weeks as you can see the dip in the learning in the graph above.

When students log in to their Zearn account, there is a student calendar and digital tracker that can help students and families monitor lesson completions while promoting self-motivation and goal setting.

WCHS Theater Department Partnerships
High school students ran the sound, lights, and backstage for our performance! Their knowledge and professionalism were paramount to this show's success. We have no doubt our Summerside Eagles will shine again on this stage as WCHS Wolves as the result of this PTO opportunity! Future-focused with so much talent to share!

Winter Weather and School Closings
As we move into wintertime, it is important for everyone to be prepared in the event we would have to close our schools due to weather issues. We encourage you to check out the article on our website entitled, "How Emergency Weather Decisions Are Made in West Clermont."
District-Wide Notification System Test
Next week we will be conducting a district-wide test of our all-call and email notification system. On the evening of Wednesday, November 13th around 7 PM, we will send both a phone call and an email test notification to all West Clermont families. Our system will notify the student contacts that parents/guardians submitted during the annual re-registration process each summer. If you do not receive the phone call and/or email, or you wish to change the contact numbers on file for your student, please contact your child's school office.
