Dear Summerside Families,
Students are learning, leading, and succeeding every day at Summerside! See below for a glimpse into some of the collaborative learning happening throughout our day. Be sure to ask your child about their Zearn lessons for the week and all they are doing to learn about their leadership skills as part of our Leader in Me program.
What is Leader in Me? Leader in Me is a PK-12 program that builds leadership skills in students and staff, boosts academic achievement, and fosters a high-trust school culture. The program’s framework—see, do, get—teaches that what we see impacts our actions or what we do, and then our actions, of course, impact the results that we get. A core belief? Everyone can be a leader! Leadership is about developing ourselves and inspiring others!
Speaking of leadership opportunities, we are excited for our 3 - 5 graders to participate in the PTO performance of The Seussical the Musical, Jr. The show will be held at the West Clermont High School on Wednesday, November 13, from 6:30 - 7:30 pm. This event is free and all Summerside families are welcome to attend to see the dedicated work our theater students have been putting in to share their talents with us!
Our PTO Veteran's Day Breakfast is Monday morning and we look forward to the opportunity to honor our nation's Veteran's together.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Courtney & Mrs. Edwards
Winter Weather and School Closings
As we move into wintertime, it is important for everyone to be prepared in the event we would have to close our schools due to weather issues. We encourage you to check out the article on our website entitled, "How Emergency Weather Decisions Are Made in West Clermont."
District-Wide Notification System Test
Next week we will be conducting a district-wide test of our all-call and email notification system. On the evening of Wednesday, November 13th around 7 PM, we will send both a phone call and an email test notification to all West Clermont families. Our system will notify the student contacts that parents/guardians submitted during the annual re-registration process each summer. If you do not receive the phone call and/or email, or you wish to change the contact numbers on file for your student, please contact your child's school office.
Grade-level newsletters will be updated bi-monthly.
The preschool link will be updated monthly.
Our Discover team newsletter will be updated quarterly.

The West Clermont BOE approved the Superintendent's Master Facilities Proposal
The West Clermont School Board unanimously approved the Superintendent’s Master Facilities Proposal Wednesday night at a special board meeting. This proposal addresses district wide challenges including; overcrowding, aging facilities, inequitable learning facilities, and the diverse needs of our growing student body.
The proposal includes:
Building a new 7 and 8 middle school connected to a new 5 and 6 grade intermediate school
Creating one new elementary school for grades PK-4 instead of replacing existing schools
Pre-school would be housed at three of the six elementary schools
Adding a new library to Clough Pike Elementary along with more classrooms, adding classrooms at W-T Elementary along with renovating W-T’s library and renovating the library at Amelia Elementary. These additions will help with space while creating a modern learning environment to foster innovation.
Upgrades to school safety and security at all schools
Technology and targeted furniture upgrades at all schools
“This proposal has been a work in progress for several months. We’ve actively engaged with you to shape a master facilities plan designed to meet the needs of our students, staff, and families for years to come," said Superintendent Natasha Adams. “This proposal will allow us to design for the unique needs of middle level learners and will preserve the idea of PK(K)-4 neighborhood schools while reflecting our community’s values and commitment to fiscal responsibility.”
Right now there are three finance options under consideration including an earned income tax, a property tax, or a combination of both.
We are offering a final facility tour and Town Hall at West Clermont Middle School on November 14, 2024. Then, our Board will have its regular November 25th and December 9th meetings to determine if a May 2025 ballot issue is needed and to pass the necessary resolutions.
The West Clermont Local School District welcomes the opportunity for local non-profit organizations to distribute materials. To see the latest distribution please go to West Clermont Flyers.
