Dear Summerside Families,
We are so proud of the hard work and connections to real life learning our students make daily, and below are just a few examples of this from this past week and opportunities ahead!
WC State of the Schools Showcase with our second graders and fifth graders hard at work growing and employing lifelong skills and student artwork being showcased too!
Our fourth graders are taking the lead in Leader in Me lessons and engaged in intentional small group math work.
First graders welcomed our new neighbors as they celebrated "Right to Read Week!"
Our first full school PTO Family Dance is this Friday. See the PTO section to sign up to volunteer and/or purchase tickets for this fun event!
Report cards open on Tuesday morning in Powerschool. Thank you to all who were able to connect with your child's teacher during parent teacher conferences. As we enter into our fourth quarter, with our end of year goals in sight, we are all ready to finish strong together!
Have you seen our district's "Understanding School Funding in West Clermont" page? A few of the newer reports are linked in our District section below. Be sure to also check out the district's video series as well as plan to join us at our next WC Town Hall at Amelia Elementary, March 19th, at 6:00 pm.
We have another full week ahead to continue to learn, lead, and succeed together!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Courtney & Mrs. Edwards

Thank you to Mrs. Brunner, Mrs. Johns and Mrs. Veylupek for showcasing authentic student learning opportunities at our second annual WC State of the School Showcase!
Be sure to ask your second grader about the skills they are learning in art to connect our Leader in Me learning to our PBIS model using graphic design skills.
All of fifth graders have been hard at work learning how to add and subtract decimals, applying their skills in a real-world example. These three opened "Decimal Diner," at our second annual WC State of the Schools Showcase and were ready to take your orders, share your bill, and give the correct change!

Fourth graders in Ms. Acomb's classroom are leading the way in Leader in Me lessons! This student asked Ms. Acomb if she could be the teacher, leading a discussion about the importance of honesty and integrity.
Each classroom engages in lessons that are part of The Leader in Me district wide adopted leadership curriculum. Leader in Me is a program that helps students and staff develop leadership skills and a sense of responsibility. It's based on the idea that every person has the potential to be a leader.
Fourth Grade Math Minds hard at work with Mrs. Duncan!

First Grade's "Right to Read Week" spirit days were so COOL!
We welcomed our new soon-to-be neighbors, Cincinnati Children's Hospital, to Summerside this week! Staff from this incredible resource came to read with our first graders as part of our Right to Read Week. They also led them in a STEM activity where they worked to create a new invention to help others! Be sure to ask your first grader about what they invented!
Report Cards will be available to view on the West Clermont PowerSchool Parent Portal starting Tuesday morning.
Here are step-by-step Report Card Parent Portal Directions

Two long-time West Clermont educators are being honored by Clermont County Educational Service Center at the inaugural Celebration of Excellence in Education dinner.
Amy Noble, who teaches first grade at Merwin Elementary, was chosen as the Excellence in Education award winner for West Clermont and Michelle Buten who is a School Counselor at West Clermont High School was chosen as the Excellence in Educational Support award winner for West Clermont.
Amy Noble has been with the district for 34 years and for more than 20 years has been an incredible member of the Mustang Herd.
“Mrs. Noble has poured her time and talent into not only guiding her first-grade students but also leading her team and supporting the families around her. Every day she brings a contagious joy, boundless energy, and love of learning to the classroom. Her impact goes beyond teaching; she’s a true inspiration to everyone at Merwin, making a life-changing difference that will continue to make an impact for years to come,” said Erin Parker, Principal at Merwin Elementary.
Michelle Buten has been in the district for the last 25 years. She started as a teacher at Amelia High School before becoming a school counselor there in 2002.
“Michelle is an exemplary counselor. She has been the primary point person for the planning and execution of our graduation ceremony and scholarship awards each year. She connects students to local and national scholarships to help fund their further education. Michelle also works closely with our athletic department to ensure student athletes maintain eligibility and continue to excel in the classroom. She is the “go to” person for our staff as a person who holds a tremendous amount of institutional knowledge and practical knowledge about the district,” said Greg Pottebaum, Principal at West Clermont High School.
Both Mrs. Noble and Mrs. Buten are retiring at the end of this school year.

As you may know one of our big communication focuses for 2025 is producing and sharing more stories about West Clermont. We want to highlight the great things happening in our district and what sets us apart but we need your help to make this a reality! Please send us stories that you know of (happening in your classrooms, school buildings, sports, extracurriculars, the arts, alumni, community partnerships, etc ) that you think would make a great story for us to highlight. We are looking for stories that not only showcase our strengths as a district but ones that also have a human connection. You can upload photos/videos/and information about your story idea/submission. We may use them in various ways - they could be used as longer stories (see below) or as shorts on social media. The more information (WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, HOW) helps us out.
Here’s how to upload:
