Dear Summerside Families,
It was an outstanding first full week of school with ALL of our students in the building, our Wolf Pup preschoolers through fifth grade! Thank you to all for your continued patience and flexibility as we adjusted our front car line and for following our procedures and protocols to keep everyone safe.
See the following link for an IMPORTANT message from Superintendent Natasha Adams regarding community engagement, facilities, and finances as we kick off the 2024-2025 school year! https://youtu.be/p8HRSygDZJ8
The Health Source of Ohio Mobile dentist is back at Summerside this coming week. See below for how to have your child seen by this incredible team working to keep our Summerside smiles sparkling!
We hope everyone enjoys their extended Labor Day weekend!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Courtney & Mrs. Edwards
All kindergarten families received an email on Friday, August 30th to share their child's homeroom teacher with them. We currently have five sections of kindergarten led by our incredible kindergarten team:
Miss Carly Beiler
Miss Molly Cantor
Ms. Patty Emery - starting her 50th year in education!!
Mrs. Shannon Flaherty
Mrs. Amanda Iding
We hope all kindergarten families can join us to meet your child’s teacher on Wednesday, September 4, 6:00 - 6:45 pm. Your child’s teacher will meet you in the classroom noted above to introduce herself, share about our overall program and protocols, and field any questions you might have about our program. Please note, teachers will be starting promptly at 6:00 pm in their classrooms and we encourage parents only for this event.
Our PTO meeting will be directly after starting at 7:00 pm. We hope you will join us in the library to be a part of the exciting opportunities they provide for our students, families, and staff throughout the year, and encourage all to join the PTO.
Please join us in welcoming Miss Carly Bieler, as our new Kindergarten Teacher at Summerside
Hello! My name is Carly Bieler and I’m excited to be part of the Kindergarten team this year! I was born and raised in Cincinnati and I attended Miami University for my degree in Early Childhood Education. I love to travel and learn about different cultures and I’ve lived and taught in Thailand and Spain. I’ve also done some long-term substitute teaching in 2nd and 3rd grade in the Deer Park School District. In my free time I like to go thrift shopping, do yoga, and practice Spanish. This is my first time in Kindergarten and I’m looking forward to all the adventures the year holds!
So many opportunities for our students and staff to connect with one another as we continue to build our routines, expectations, and classroom communities!
Dear Summerside Families,
On 9/19/24-9/24/24 our students will participate in child abuse workshops facilitated by trained staff from the Council on Child Abuse of Southern Ohio (COCA). COCA provides workshops to over 20,000 children per year in various school districts and settings including Cincinnati Public Schools, the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, Northwest School District, Norwood City Schools, Forest Hills Schools, Oak Hills Schools, charter schools, and many others.
Ohio’s 134th General Assembly enacted Senate Bill 288 which updated the prescribed curriculum for health education, adding requirements related to child sexual abuse prevention, dating violence prevention and sexual violence prevention. The law includes requirements for student instruction, parent and legal guardian notification and training for school personnel. Additional information regarding this law can be found here.
COCA staff specialize in delivering age-appropriate presentations on the topics of preventing child abuse, bullying, and dating violence. Each presentation is modified to best suit your child’s grade and level of understanding and includes relevant activities and videos to help facilitate interactive learning and discussion.
Younger students (grades K-2) will learn the difference between safe and unsafe touches. Older students (grades 3-8) will learn to recognize the types of child abuse (Physical, Verbal, Sexual, Emotional, and Neglect). All students will learn the importance of telling a trusted adult if child abuse is suspected.
All students will be able to speak with one of our trained staff following the classroom presentation. This is a time for them to ask questions or express concerns in a one-on-one conversation. This portion of the program is optional.
Please take the time to talk to your child about the program and discuss any questions or comments s/he might have about the subject. Add your personal thoughts and rules, too.
If you have questions or concerns about the content of COCA’s presentations, please visit the FAQ page of their website at www.cocachild.org.
All students will participate in this program unless they have a written note indicating that you do NOT give permission. To opt out, please complete this form, or contact the school for assistance Mrs. Karen Fields, fields_k@my.westcler.org.
Sincerely,
Lisa Courtney

Our mission is to commit to excellence, with every learner, every day, in every way. Dear Families of Third, Fourth, and Fifth Graders,
Our PTO is proud to provide an exciting opportunity for students to engage in the performing arts. Please look for the following flyer to come home on Tuesday afternoon inviting all 3 - 5 graders to perform Seussical the Musical for kids. Auditions are scheduled for this Friday, September 6 from 4:00 - 5:00 pm. Students can stay after school for this but a parent will need to be present for them to participate in the audition. Please communicate your permission for them to stay in a written note and/or email to their teacher. Otherwise, we will be sending them home as usual that afternoon.
Click here to sign up for an audition spot.
Please note the cost for participating is $100 this year. Our PTO can provide partial and full scholarships as we do not want money to be a barrier. Simply connect with me, Lisa Courtney, courtney_l@my.westcler.org, if assistance is needed.
We will hold a brief meeting at 4:30 on 9/6 in the library with all parents of students who are auditioning to share key details about this opportunity.
We plan to provide a K - 2 performance opportunity in the spring as well if we have a parent volunteer to serve as the committee chair for this experience. If you are interested in filling this role for us for the 3 - 5 performance, or have any questions, please reach out to the Summerside PTO, summersidepto@gmail.com.
Our Core Values: Together We are, ON THE RISE. R-Relationship, I-Innovation, S-Student Centered, E-Empowerment
We are creating a courageous culture by focusing on our mission of committing to excellence with every learner, every day, every way. We strive to have a safe, caring, positive learning environment where all students have a sense of belonging.
The Citizens Advisory Team will be presenting its Master Facilities Plan recommendations to the West Clermont Board of Education on Monday August 26.
The Citizens Advisory Team has been working for several months on a proposal to address aging facilities, overcrowded schools, and inequitable facilities across the district to accommodate modern learners and a modern workforce.
The Board of Education meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the Union Township Civic Center in the Township Hall. We hope to see you there!
West Clermont is making some adjustments regarding admittance to and supervision at home Varsity Football games at West Clermont High School.
Supervision:
Elementary (K-5) and Middle School (6-8) students MUST be supervised by an adult who is in attendance at the game.
If a student is stopped by a School Administrator or the Union Township Police Department for not meeting behavior expectations (see below), an adult must be onsite to address and resolve the issue.
This may include being asked to leave the game without refund. Should this occur, the supervising adult would be required to take all students they brought with them.
Elementary students (Grade 5 and under) must sit with an adult.
Middle School parents are encouraged to sit in the newly designated Junior PACK section of the stadium (see seating chart, below), within line of sight of the Middle schooler(s) they brought to the game.
Expectations Regarding Student Behavior:
The Student Code of Conduct remains in effect at all school events, including football games.
Students must have a seat and remain in that seat for the duration of the game, with the exception of trips to and from concessions and/or restrooms.
Students may NOT loiter or run around in the stadium area, the parking lot, or other areas of campus.
Students may NOT be in the shot put pit near the bell.
Anyone caught throwing any objects will be immediately ejected from the game and may be prohibited from attending games the remainder of this school year.
Student Seating:
The WCHS student section will stay in their current section furthest to the left when looking at the home stands.
The Junior PACK (Grades 6-8) will have space reserved for them in the section furthest to the right when looking at the home stands. Middle School parents are encouraged to sit in this section as well.
Elementary students (Grade 5 and under) must sit with an adult.

As the new year begins, we wanted give you more information about a groundbreaking development in West Clermont’s commitment in addressing the growing mental-health crisis.
The district is renewing and expanding partnerships with mental health agencies to ensure that any student with need has access to comprehensive services starting as early as preschool and continuing through 12th grade without any additional cost to the district. Beginning with the 2024-2025 school year, these new partners will provide the following services to any student in need, with parent / guardian permission.
● As you are aware, Child Focus has been a valued partner of the district in this important work for many years. Child Focus will provide prevention (drug/alcohol/tobacco and suicidal ideation) and crisis services, and will continue to be the district’s community service provider for families not choosing to have the school-based services described
below.
● Necco will serve students preschool through 8th grade. Every elementary school will be staffed with at least one full-time, licensed therapist and two case managers. West Clermont Middle School will have 2 therapists and four case managers.
● Best Point will serve students at West Clermont High School, including two therapists and a care coordinator.
● Therapists will provide assessment, individual and group counseling, and crisis intervention. They additionally will assist in completing assessments / referrals for students needing medication management and/or wraparound services.
● Case managers and care coordinators will provide skills building in the classroom, parent / guardian skills building, coordination of treatment in collaboration with therapists.
