Dear Summerside Families,
This week we spent time showing Summerside teachers and staff how much they are appreciated. Thank you to our PTO and families for honoring and celebrating the hard work that our AMAZING teachers and staff put forth every day to make a difference in your child's life. Thank you to all who participated with thoughtful cards and sentiments of gratitude and with all of the treats and special touches our PTO provided all week long.
Our fourth-grade performance of "The Day the Crayons Quit!" program was certainly evidence of this hard work in showcasing our students' talents and building skills and opportunities for them to shine. We believe it takes a village and we hope you are as proud of our Summerside community as we are every day, in every way!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Courtney & Mrs. Edwards
Thank you for helping the Summerside staff feel so appreciated!
P.S. We hope all have a lovely Mother's Day!
Grade-level newsletters will be updated monthly.
Our Discover team newsletter will be updated quarterly.
Our fourth graders, led by Mrs. Hardy in music class, shared their talents and growth in their performance of "The Day the Crayons Quit!" program this past week! Mrs. Hardy's incredible efforts to build into our students by fostering their knowledge, confidence, collaboration skills, and showmanship provide pathways for future opportunities in college and career paths. Seeing our students share their talents, and the pride their families and friends had for them is priceless! Thank you, Mrs. Hardy, for building into our students' future opportunities to shine, Mrs. Johns, for the incredible artwork, Mr. Moore for supporting the performance, the Fourth Grade Team for helping with time and management, the PTO, for supporting the cost of props, and our families for sharing your talented children with us!
The fifth graders had an unforgettable day as they journeyed to COSI and the Ohio State Capitol in style. The excitement was visible the moment they rounded the corner and spotted their sleek charter buses (thanks to our incredible PTO) waiting to whisk them away. Cheers and wide eyes filled the air—it was clear this trip was going to be something special. From hands-on science exhibits to exploring the halls of government, students had the opportunity to learn in engaging and meaningful ways, all while making lasting memories with classmates and teachers.
Preschool students who will be transitioning to Kindergarten next year took time to visit one of our Kindergarten classrooms. It was shaed that they were wonderful Eagle Leaders and are ready for their next adventure.

Leader in Me - Parent Surveys. Our district is implementing a whole-district transformational process called Leader in Me, which teaches 21st-century leadership and life skills to students and creates a culture of student empowerment based on the idea that every child can be a leader. Parent input is needed. Please complete the following survey to help us learn more about areas of strength and needed growth in our school.
Please complete the survey using the link below. The survey is completely voluntary, but we do hope to get feedback from one member of every household. The survey takes about 10 minutes to complete and will ask questions about your child and about his or her experience in our school. If you have more than one child attending the school building, think about the oldest child's experiences as you answer questions.
Please complete the survey by: 5/16/25

As you may know one of our big communication focuses for 2025 is producing and sharing more stories about West Clermont. We want to highlight the great things happening in our district and what sets us apart but we need your help to make this a reality! Please send us stories that you know of (happening in your classrooms, school buildings, sports, extracurriculars, the arts, alumni, community partnerships, etc ) that you think would make a great story for us to highlight. We are looking for stories that not only showcase our strengths as a district but ones that also have a human connection. You can upload photos/videos/and information about your story idea/submission. We may use them in various ways - they could be used as longer stories (see below) or as shorts on social media. The more information (WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, HOW) helps us out.
Here’s how to upload:
