the double side face sketch
describing my process: I was confused at first and did not understand how to draw it as I was not here when the class first did the sketch but I did it cause my friend helped me.
Contour Outline of Self-Portrait Photograph
describing my process: It was quite challenging trying to find the shadows as I did not even know what the shadows looked like, however, I eventually found out how to do it.
Carbon Copy of Contour Outline
describing my process: It took a long time to outline the lines onto the carbon copy and it was stressful trying to copy the exact lines onto the carbon copy.
Positive and Negative Design of Self Portrait
describing the process: It was like outlining the lines into the carbon copy but with a marker and it was similar to the experience I had when outling.
silkscreen printing
describing my process: It was quite confusing at the start as we were the first group doing the silkscreen printing and it was quite stressful trying to make the printing perfect as we could not see in the dark room and were not able to correct the mistakes accurately. I am still satisfied with the results of the printing as it looks roughly identical with the original self-portrait.
first print
describing my process: I was surprised that it was easy to complete the printing as it took way less time compared to the silkscreen printing and it was simple in order to complete it.
without colouring the hair
describing my process: I was trying to protray the many aspects of life, each colour representing an aspect of life, and the different lines also representing the different aspects of life.
final painting
describing my process: I am not that proud of the results of the painting. I could have different shades of the colors such as for example dark blue to light blue for each color, I am still happy with the results of the painting as I completed it without having that much trouble.

I see a guy with a blue cyan shirt staring at something and he looks blank. The subject of the painting is Vincent Van Gogh and he uses lines for his artwork. There are parts of Vincent Van Gogh in the foreground, background and the middleground of the painting.
He wanted to be in the center of the painting since it is a self-portrait.
I think he is trying to convey how life should be simple and we should be grateful for what we have. The painting makes me feel grateful for what I have.
The lines help fill the background of the painting without adding anything that we do not need which helps empathise how the painting is quite simple.
I am curious about how he came up with the idea for that painting. I am also curious about why he chose those particular colors for his painting.
I am unsure of the purpose of the background and the title of the painting, when I researched it, it was when he was studying for the painting "The potato eaters" which depicted the harsh reality of country life, so he gave the peasants coarse faces and bony, working hands.

I would like to keep how the painting is simple but I would like to make the painting easier to see the message of it.
What is striking to you about this artist's self-portrait?
What do you think the artist is trying to portray?
How do you think you can adapt this work into your self-portrait?
What I see: I see a very simple drawing, with many lines describing his current state of mind.
What do you think the artist is trying to portray: I think that the artist is trying to portray the simplicity of life and how we should appreciate and be very grateful for what we have currently.
How do I want to adapt this style into my self-portrait: I think I can add lines to my self-portrait to express the amount of items that I have to do and add colors to differentiate the type and complexity of the stuff that is taking place in life and the straight lines depict the items that we have to do and the many different responsibilities we have as people.
