I see a bald man in a wheelchair.
I think the subject is Pablo Picasso himself ageing.
The elements are lines, textures and colours.
There is no subject other than Picasso in the foreground and middleground. The background is a light brown-white swirl mix.
The subject is in the middle of the painting.
I think the artist arranged the subjects in this manner because he want to show himself as the focus.
I think the Artist is trying to show in the artwork that he is very old. The background with the swirl feels mysterious.
The lines and colours give a feeling that he is frail.
The contrast in the background and subject and the size of the subject highlights the subject and make it very eye catching.
I think the artist emphasized certain elements of the work like the man having beard and being bald shows how the man is ageing.
I am curious if the artist is really portraying himself.
I wonder why the artist wants to paint such a simple background.
I find this artwork interesting as it gives a very mysterious feeling.
I am unsure of the strokes he gave the man and I would like to find out the reason behind it.
I would keep the man as he is the subject and i would like to replace a background with a even more mysterious one to make people think more about this artwork.
Double face drawing
(04/02/24)I used the concepts taught in class and I think the final work is fine.Contour outline of self portrait
(06/02/24)Outlined the potrait and added shadows.Carbon copy of contour outline
(06/04/24)I did not take the photo for it.Positive and negative design
(06/02/24)I outlined the carbon copy with a marker and added shadows.Mixing skin tone colour
(20/02/24)I did not have enough time thus I only did a few colours.Mixing skin tone colour
(01/03/24)I managed to get skin colour and I got quite a variety of colours.Painting on skin
(05/03/24)I followed last week's work and got the skin colour and tested it on my hand.Silkscreen printing
(19/03/24)I learnt how to do the silkscreen printing and my results were quite good.Face paint 1
(12/04/24)This is my first attempt using the skin colour concept from last week and the skin colour looks very pale and dark. i managed to get the colour of my PE shirt.Face paint 2 (16/04/24)
In the second attempt, I tried to use different shades of brown and my artwork improved a bit from last time.Face paint 3
(26/04/24)In the third attempt, I made black and started painting my spectacles and eyebrows. I also added one more layer of lighter brown to make my paint better.Face paint 4
(30/04/24)In my final work, I tried to add in some contrast with the help of Ms gan but I still blended them in the end. I also added a blue background that has lots of texture to make my picture look more eye catching.Silkscreen inking
(10/05/24)
Today, I used my silkscreen print and added ink then ink it onto a A3 paper. It looks quite successful.
Silkscreen inking 1
(14/05/24)
Today, I used my silkscreen printed with red ink. It looks quite successful.
Silkscreen inking 2
(14/05/24)
Today, I used my silkscreen printed with blue ink. It looks quite cool because there are "shadows" might be caused by water on the canvas.
Silkscreen inking 3
(14/05/24)
Today, I used my silkscreen printed with blue, red, yellow and black paint. It looks quite successful with clean strokes.
Silkscreen inking 4

Then, I used the remaining paint to ink this one with mix strokes so as not to waste ink. I looks good but majority black.
WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN PRINTMAKING (SILKSCREEN PRINTING) AND PAINTING? WHICH DO YOU PREFER AND WHY?
My Reflections: Silkscreen painting only requires a few steps. It requires a transparent copy and the chemical to spread over the silkscreen. Then put the transparent copy over the silkscreen and expose it to bright light then the picture will be formed. However, painting seems to be harder especially the mixing of skin tone and trying to get different tones of colours in the painting. Thus, I actually prefer silkscreen printing as I find it interesting and fun.
HOW WOULD I LIKE TO IMPROVE MY WORK IF I WERE DO MY SILKSCREEN OR PAINTING AGAIN? PLS SPECIFY ONE TYPE.
My Reflections: If I were to do my painting again, I want to get more tone for the skin to make my artwork more realistic. I also want to take note to be more careful as I was careless and spilled paint over my artwork sometimes.
