What is striking to you about this artist's self-portrait?
What do you think the artist is trying to portray?
How do you think you can adapt this work into your self-portrait?
I see Piccaso in a self portrait with a black and blue background. His face is also coloured in many different colours like green, yellow blue etc. His face is made of many different shapes such as an oval, triangles and shapes that resemble different body parts. Patterns can be seen on his shirt like a checkered red pattern.
I think the artist is trying to show that he is angry since he is frowning and his eyes are small. In the portrait, the background is black which also heavily emphasizes his emotions. However, colours like green and yellow are also use don his face which symbolizes hope.
I can make a plain and simple background while adding my face in the middle. I can also make my body centralized and the background plain and simple, but in my final painting I had a different approach by using a variety of patterns and colours. My background also has a wide vaeriety of colours and patterns, like different lines. My face is also fragmented.
