OHS Management:
The people in charge of OHS is the risk and safety apartment which is a different entity to the Werribee outdoor pool but takes control of all and any risks that they are alerted of. They manage the OHS problems by checking out the pool every now and then or if they are requested to do a check-up, or if they have been notified to come in as a result of an OHS incident.
Management of OHS is dealt with by the risk and safety apartment and any incidents that happen at the Werribee outdoor pool will be done with a risk assessment and a notification to the other apartment. What governs this is the OHS Act of 2004, which can be found on page 168 with the title 158 regulations, one example of what it says is: The Governor in Council may make regulations for or with respect the way in which duties or obligations imposed by this Act or the regulations are performed.
They communicate OHS information through a system they have in place that makes it easier for them to communicate with each other about any OHS issues. They have safety data sheets about all the hazards and are stored on the hardware. They also have these sheets just in the main office as well at the other office where the risk assessment apartment is. Risk assessments are made when someone from the risk and safety apartment comes down to do a checkup on the building and pool or when they request a risk assessment to happen or if some recent incident happened, after they have been completed they are stored in the risk and safety apartment.
Team meetings happen inconsistently on an irregular basis and they talk about any events that are happening or have occurred over the recent period and also what could be improved on. Signs are placed all over the swimming pool and in and out of the buildings, there are a variety of signs with a variety of different reasons the main ones are watch over your children, no running, no diving, no pushing, no bombing and no shouting, these are all important for safety around the pool as it can be a very dangerous place if not following the rules of the pool.
How do they display OHS within the business:
The Wyndham city council shows their OHS through having signs throughout their businesses about the safety around the pool, keeping an eye on your children and many various types of signs. Having rule programs such as the watch around water policy and many other types of programs that help you about your knowledge on safety around swimming pools and you children, What’s around the pool, which teaches you how to be safe and what objects you mind find that you would have to clean up. And if you're talking about the employees they are certified for the correct qualifications and also get additional training if they are uncertain in the field and feel they still need more practice.
Who oversees OHS within the business:
The Risk and safety apartment who take over any OHS issues at any of the businesses, but how this works is, an incident occurs at the workplace then they must make an incident report and fill it out with the information, which is online and instantly alerts the OHS apartment and is automatically logged as a part of the system. And they are the ones who get notified and oversee the problem.
