Swim4All is a small Swim school that provides private and group classes specialising in children with special needs. Located on 10 Merchants Court Werribee. A team of swimming teachers work together to ensure that children are able to Swim safety and have fun in the water.

Owner:
Natalie Clarke the owner of Swim4All has been running the program for 15 years. She is a qualified AUSTSWIM Teacher of infant and Preschool Aquatics, Aquatics Access and Inclusion and Teacher of Towards Competitive Strokes. With access to a primary school on Sunday Natalie began with a handful of Swimmers. 2 years later she had taught over 100 children with a disability. It is Natalie’s vision that the Swimming centre she is proposing to build will be the first of many to come in the future, so that all children with a disability will be able to access lessons in a Swim4All centre near them. The future of the industry is looking fabulous, especially the teaching industry as many people want to become teachers in the future. Natalie is in charge of a team of 18, with 5 receptionist and 13 teachers.
Owner’s Duties:
Customer service
Ensuring facilities are properly maintained
May undertake coaching or training of clients
Organise publicity to promote facilities and attract clients
Plan and organises a range of different programs offered by the center
Swim Teachers:
Full Time, Part time And Casual Employees
Full Time- A full time employee is and employee who is engaged to work an average of 38 hours a week.
Part Time- Part-time employee is an employee who works less than an average of 38 hours a week. Receives, on a pro rata basis, equivalent pay and conditions to those of full-time employees who do the same kind of work.
Causal- A Casual employee is an employee engaged and paid as a causal employee. For every ordinary hour worked on Saturday, Sunday or public holiday, a casual employee must be paid:
The minimum hourly rate and a loading of 30% of the minimum hourly rate, for the work being performed
Daily tasks of a Swim Teacher can include:
Teaching basic swimming strokes and water safety
Planning and implementing teaching strategies
General cleaning and or maintenance
Speaking with clients
In charge of safety in and around pool
Daily tasks of a Receptionist include:
Meeting and greeting clients
Arranging classes and appointment
Answering and forwarding phone calls
Keeping the reception area clean
Sorting post
In charge of payrolls
Checking and updating social media
Management of OHS concerns:
The team members at Swim4All are all responsible for their own safety and the safety of the customers. Natalie is the business’s OHS rep and is in charge of all OHS concerns. She is ultimately accountable for the overall safety of her employees and customers. Emergency contacts are kept in file as well as important OHS information like food allergies and any conditions that an employee or customer might have. Annual OHS meeting are held to go through new and or existing OHS procedures. She is responsible for the risk assessments and does an annual review of the business’ OHS practices and procedures. Natalie the employer communicates OHS information with customer with signage displayed around the Swim centre. Information like shallow water, Chemical storage, Covid-19, Swim safety and Supervision signs. The employee contracts under OHS, teachers have a reasonability for the student when their teaching them. They have to always watch out for every child and sometimes they will have more than 1 teacher to supervise the class. Safety emails are always sent to every employee regarding any change to workplace hazards and what new thing to look out for.
OHS Responsibilities:
The OHS procedures employed by the company follow those indicated in the OHS ACT 2004. WorkSafe Victoria are called in to advise the manager of how to improve OHS practices within the swim centre. Natalie takes all team members through a safety induction to get filmier about workplace rules, regulations and OHS practices and procedures. The team works closely with their customers to ensure the practice and procedures in place comply with the working environment. If an OH&S incident occurs the incident report procedures are followed.
Incident reports:
When filling out an incident report employees will need to follow the following procedures. Employees will have to hand in Incident report to manager or OHS rep within 12 hours of the incident:
Who: Who is reporting the incident? Who was affected?
What: What happened? (include incident type and details) What are the characteristics of the incident? What initial actions were taken? What is the incident severity rating at the time of the incident report/
When: When did the incident occur?
Where: Where did the incident occur?
How and Why: Why and how did the incident occur? What factor contributed?
Once the incident report is handed in and reviewed. The OHS rep with go through the process’s and procedure that are in place to control incidents. The OHS rep must go through the controls put in place and may have to add more to lower in risk of an incident.
Owner:

Taken new team members through an induction of the rules and regulations on OHS
Provide PPE and equipment
Signing employment contracts
Provide suitable facilities for welfare of employees

Manager:
Making decisions about health and safety
Ensuring legal requirements are met
Corporate with any employee that doesn’t meet OHS practices
Keeping work place free of hazards and make in a safe working environment
Emailing OHS info to employees
Cleaning up work place
Maintain or replace any broken equipment
Making sure all chemical are store and locked in a secure location away from clients
Receptionist:
Keeping reception area clean and tidy
Keep entrance free of obstacles
Make front area clean and presentable
Keep OHS forms, eg: Risk assessments and incident forms
Swim Teachers:
Ensure that clients are following OHS practices
Make sure all chemical and PPE storage is locked
Ensure that equipment is in working order
Make sure that OHS signage is clearly visible for customers
Supervising Children in the pool and ensure they are safe
Make sure that toilets and facilities are clean and in a fully working order
Clients:
Ensure that OHS practices are followed
Make sure a mess is left and you pick up your belongings
Don’t be abusive to staff
Don’t leave child alone in Swim centre
Qualifications that all employees must have:
Working with children’s check
Level 1 first Aid

Swim4All staff are entitled to:
Swim4All fall under the Fitness Industry Award [MA000094] clauses 2, 4 and schedule
Personal/ Careers leave: Employees are entitled to Personal/ Careers leave if family is unwell and need personal/ Careers leave.
Public holidays: Employees and employer don’t work public holiday
Annual leave: During a period of annual leave an employee must also be paid and annual leave loading of 17.5% of their minimum rate of pay
Superannuation: Employer must pay superannuation to benefit employees. Employees can choose their own superannuation fund. If employee does not choose a superannuation fund, any superannuation fund nominated in the award cover the employee applies.
Meal breaks- A 30 Minute break when work 5 hours or more.
Payment - Employees must be paid weekly or fortnightly. Via bank transfer
Pay and Wages- Swimming instructors with 20+ years’ experience earn around $15.56 an hour. Instructor with <1-year experience can earn of average around $11.16 an hour.
