Up2Date Ltd. Is an IT Consultant company that helps people with any of their IT needs. Up2date is located in the 3030 area, but they serve a wide area of work, in the past some of the work that has been completed on sites past Melbourne City. Started in 2006 Up2Date has been running for a total of 17 years, Part of their aim is to make managing IT easy for all people and businesses. Starting The company took 2 years before getting a business location that wasn’t in someone’s house, from then they moved to a larger house and are currently located there.
After being in business for 17 years they have learned the dos and don’ts of running a business, At the start of the 17-year journey they started By Dropping over 20k Letters in people's mailboxes.

Daily Duties:
- Answering Phone Calls and emails - This could be regarding work that needs to be done in the coming weeks or could be from any wholesalers that they work with to get parts and repairs done.
- Working on major jobs - Up2Date works with a variety of companies ranging from one person hobbyists to multimillion dollar companies, the boss mostly deals with any large companies that work with Up2Date.
- Solving Customer Problems - As the owner he doesn't do a lot of walk-in support unless it is critical work, but he does occasional help with any people that require it.
- Remote Support - Some clients of Up2Date are located on the other side of the city which isn't practical for someone to come out if it's something simple, so they have set up their systems to be able to remote in and help fix issues from anywhere.
- Checking Servers - Up2date hosts websites and digital storage for a range of companies and each day the servers need to be maintained and made sure they are working.
- Doing anything IT related - At Up2Date anything could happen as the owner it is his job to make sure everything gets done on time and everything is done to the highest standards, this means the boss could be doing anything during the day and for him there is no normal day.

Daily Duties:
- Answering Phone Calls and emails - This could be regarding work that needs to be done in the coming weeks or could be from any wholesalers that they work with to get parts and repairs done.
- Solving Customer Problems - As the owner he doesn't do a lot of walk-in support unless it is critical work, but he does occasional help with any people that require it.
- Remote Support - Some clients of Up2Date are located on the other side of the city which isn't practical for someone to come out if it's something simple, so they have set up their systems to be able to remote in and help fix issues from anywhere.

Accountant:
Qualifications:
Most of the time to become an accountant you require a Bachelor of Business or Bachelor of Accounting. But because this person is family to the boss and only work 1 day a week, they did not need as much to get the job.
Job Longevity:
Working with Up2Date and being part of the boss’s family there isn’t much that will cause them to get fired so there job is very secure.
Daily Duties:
- Creating Invoice – When things are ordered or other people some companies require an invoice, this also includes when someone wants to pay for their items after buying it.
- Filing Taxes – As a business Up2Date must file taxes, which is done by the accountant.
- Filling Pay forms – Each fortnight employees get paid; this is also done by the accountant.

- Payments – Each employee is paid a similar amount which is unknown but from research is estimated to be between $65,000 and $90,000
- Entitlements – As for entitlements each employee is different and I wasn’t able to get any information from the business but from research it would be:
- Up to 12 months unpaid parental leave
- Minimum 4 weeks off annual leave
Management of OHS:
The OH&S act of 2004:
- The OH&S Act of 2004 seeks to protect the health, safety and welfare of employees and other people at work. The act also aims to ensure the safety and health of the public and not to put anyone in risk in the completion of work and activities.
How they report OH&S issues to the owner:
- Meeting – Every few weeks they hold meetings that occur to allow them to talk about anything that has happened, including injuries and jobs.
- Calls – If anything happens in the workplace, they all have a direct line to someone else which allows them to get any injuries reported.
- Group Chats – There is one group chat with all the employees and owner which allows them all to know if something is dangerous and can cause anyone else harm.
Different Concerns and how there managed:
- Electrical Fires - Making sure all cables are tested and tagged, this can be done both on worksites and their Work address.
- Trip, Slips & Falls - Working on other businesses property there are more risks of getting injured and from this they need to be more aware of their surroundings.
- Falling Object - Working with large amounts of items means they need to be stored, which means there are shelves, and it needs to be made sure nothing falls from heights.
- Back injuries - Working with lots of companies means there can be large amounts of storage and heavy objects, this means everyone needs to be trained on how to correctly move things and how to properly store items.
Owner’s OHS Responsibilities:
- Work safe - If an injury or issue occurs, the owner of Up2Date would have to contact Work safe and file all the paperwork.
- Fixing Damages that cause injury - Making sure that there are no places in the business grounds that could cause harm to the employees or customers.
- Necessary training - Making sure everyone has done all their training and it is always kept up to date, some employees have different training levels and making sure there is always someone on site that has medical training.
- keeping in line with OHS guidelines - The OHS Act of 2007 lists all the correct procedures the businesses and people have to follow for the workplace to keep safe.
- Keeping first aid kit up to date - After using a first aid kit the boss will need to fill out all the paperwork and make sure there is extra medical supplies ready to restock it.
Employee's OHS Responsibilities:
- Duty of care for clients - Making sure all Clients are kept safe and there is nothing that could cause them harm.
- Following OHS resources - Making sure you keep up to date on all the new resources that manage the OHS in Up2Date.
- Managing all hazards are managed - Keeping your workspace cleared and clutter free, this will allow you to make sure everything is safe for all clients that come in.
- Making sure anything Hazardous is reported to the boss - Making sure even if something is small, it can still cause harm to others so it should be always reported to the boss.
- Understanding how to use first aid - Each employee should have a basic understanding on what each of the things in a first aid kit are used for.
Clients OHS Responsibilities:
- Following Signs – Located throughout the business there are signs each Client must follow to ensure they are kept safe.
- Listening to directions of workers - The employees know the most about the business so clients should always listen to them and follow their directions.
- Following COVID Safe Policies – Recently there are strict COVID plans located around the business, they should always follow them.
Communicating OHS Matters:
- Risk Assessments - On some occasions risk assessments should be completed if the site being visited is particularly hazardous.
- Covid Safe Policies - In 2020 each business was required to have a Covid safe plan, this should be located where everyone has access.
- Fire safety training - It's required that each business location has a fire assembly point, this should be known by each employee.
- Keeping a SDS - Sometimes working with electronics you use chemicals to clean and build Computers and electronics, a Safety Data Sheet with all the information about the chemical should be easily accessible for all people using it.
- Forms to be filled out if something happens – When working there are some forms that need to be filled out if something happens on or off site, these allow the owner of the business to get an idea on what issues are occurring and where things need to be fixes.
Duties if Notifiable incident occurs:
- Contacting Work safe – If someone gets seriously gets injured, they should file with Work safe that something has occurred and that they should come down and check the worksite.
- Calling 000 If applicable – If someone does get seriously injured, they are required to call 000.
SDS (Safety Data Sheet):
Safety data sheets are required for any chemical used on premises this could be including cleaning products. All chemicals need to be accurately recorded on a safety data sheet, indicating their category, potential risk and correct contact numbers for specific chemicals.
