It is a must for all employees at any business to comply with the OHS rules of each workplace. There are many different machines and tools that the staff at Bakers Delight use that can be a hazard to work with and need to be handled with care and discretion, making the OHS Act especially important within this workplace. The slicer is the main machine that everyone in the store handles and there are specific safety measures that have to be followed in order to prevent accidents or injuries happening. Everyone that is hired will be trained how to safely use the slicer during their induction. When handling the slicer, you must be very careful of how close the blades get to your hands and ensure that everyone around the slicer is being safe.
There are safety posters displayed all around the store advertising the correct safety procedures for all potential hazards . These show the way that hazards and hygiene issues should be handled while in store. Incident reports and safety logs are located around the store for easy access if there is ever a need for them. If an incident report is needed to be used, it should be filled out as soon a possible and the incident should be reported to the food safety supervisor in the store and the manager so that the issue can be taken further.
Notifiable incidents such as injuries, problems with machinery and pests should be reported to the manager and any other relative external sources such as pest control and WorkSafe.
