Meet the Teacher

Cecily Citrino

Originally from Philadelphia, PA., after having earned her B.S. in Art Education from Temple University in 1992 and taking some time to travel the world, Ms. Citrino landed in Denver, CO in 1996. While she has been an art educator for thirteen years now, Ms. Citrino has been the Elementary Art teacher at Lotus School For Excellence since 2017; following a five-year appointment as a middle school art teacher and two additional years working as a curriculum developer, teaching-artist, and mentor for young adult artists with disabilities in Denver's Santa Fe Art District.

While she has always had a keen interest in combining the visual arts with science, math, and engineering, Ms. Citrino's desire to gain a deeper understanding of the benefits of a S.T.E.A.M.-based curriculum and the positive impact it can have on students' ability to discover a passion for learning, led her to earning a Master's of Education in Curriculum and Instruction in S.T.E.A.M. Education in January 2020. Moving forward, Ms. Citrino continues to instill in her students, a drive to find their own passions and strengths within the S.T.E.A.M. domains, as they build the confidence to bring their skills to the proverbial table, while preparing themselves for a productive future as active contributors to the global community.
