When I Grow Up...

The Lesson: As students viewed famous works of that focus on depictions of people at work, they were introduced to vocabulary related to people and work. Each student then created a drawing of themselves doing the job they would like to do when they grow up, making sure to include clues as the clothes worn, tools used, or background incorporated. Each drawing was then accompanied by a voice recoding wherein students discussed the stories portrayed in their personal work of art, using job-related vocabulary and adjectives to describe feelings.

Lesson Objectives: Students can tell about the people and places in everyday life through works of art and design and identify how stories in visual art and design teach us about each other (Visual Arts - 2020 Colorado Academic Standards, 2020).
