UNIT OF INQUIRY
SHARING THE PLANET
Students will explore how living things adapt to survive in changing environments. They will investigate the form and function of adaptations and the causes behind environmental change. Using thinking, research, and self-management skills, students will ask questions, analyze evidence, and draw conclusions about survival. They will build understanding of form, function, and change while developing a balanced view of life on Earth.

AUTHOR'S CRAFT
Students will explore how authors use craft to shape meaning and connect with readers. They will analyze word choice, structure, voice, and literary techniques across different texts. Through inquiry, students will think critically, communicate ideas, and apply new strategies in their own writing. They will compare perspectives, reflect on author purpose, and make connections between texts. This unit builds understanding of form and perspective while strengthening communication and creative expression.
MATHS
DATA HANDLING
Students will collect, organize, and display data using charts, tables, bar graphs, and line graphs. They will pose questions, interpret data, and compare different types of graphs. Students will understand mode, range, and how scale affects data display. They will explore probability through real-life experiments, predict outcomes, and describe chances using simple numerical notation. By analyzing patterns and results, students will build skills in data handling and probability.
NUMBER & NUMBER SENSE
Students will deepen their understanding of the base 10 system and explore place value in large numbers. They will read, write, compare, and order numbers up to a million and with decimals. Students will round numbers, recognize patterns in even, odd, prime, and composite numbers, and work with factors and multiples. They will double and halve large numbers and understand how digits relate by place value. These skills will strengthen their number sense and build confidence with complex numbers.
