UNIT OF INQUIRY
HOW WE ORGANIZE OURSELVES
Students will investigate how organisations work and why they are created. They will explore the roles people play, how teams collaborate, and the impact services have on communities. Students will communicate ideas and reflect on responsibility and fairness. Students will connect their learning to real-world examples through field trips, guest speakers, and companies visited as part of the other five units of inquiry. This unit helps students understand systems, promote inclusion, and think about how they can contribute to meeting the needs of others.
MAKING MEANING [First 3 weeks]
This unit explores how people use language purposefully to create and communicate meaning. Students investigate how the structure and organisation of language influence understanding and how authors make intentional choices for different audiences and purposes. As a writer, students will understand how the writing process can help them to improve the clarity and accuracy of their writing. Through reading and writing a variety of texts, students analyse text structures, vocabulary, style, and word meanings, including the impact of prefixes and affixes.
