WHO WE ARE

Through play, stories, and shared experiences, children will build relationships with their peers, teachers, and learning spaces. They will begin to understand routines, express their feelings, and make personal connections, helping them to feel safe, confident, and included in our learning community. Emphasis will be placed on fostering a sense of identity and encouraging children to recognise that they are important and valued members of a group.

ON-GOING UNIT

Students will explore language, symbols, and stories through play, talk, and creativity. They will engage in rich conversations, enjoy songs and rhymes, and notice sounds and patterns in words. They will experiment with drawing, mark-making, and writing for real purposes, including their own names. They will use art, role play, and dramatic play to share ideas and feelings. They will enjoy books, ask questions, retell stories, and connect print with meaning, building strong foundations for literacy.

ON-GOING UNIT

Students will understand that numbers, shapes, patterns, and symbols help us make sense of the world. They will use mathematical language to describe ideas, solve problems, and explain their thinking. They will explore symbols, marks, and materials to represent quantities, patterns, and relationships. They will enjoy stories, songs, and play as opportunities for rich numeracy learning. Through inquiry, real-life experiences, and collaborative conversations, they will connect mathematics to their lives, express ideas in many ways, and build joyful confidence in numeracy.

PLAYING TOGETHER

Students will develop their physical skills through simple games and movement activities, with a focus on sharing, taking turns, listening, helping others, playing together, and trying new things. Integrated with the EY3 Who We Are Unit of Inquiry, children will explore what it means to belong to a group and how their actions can help everyone feel included, safe, and cared for. Through playful experiences, they will begin to recognise themselves as valued members of their learning community. As part of their stand-alone PE learning, children will join group movement games, practise sharing space and equipment, take turns, work with a partner, listen to others, follow simple rules, and build confidence participating alongside their friends.
