Ms. Jones

My children mean the world to me, and my wish is that they make a difference in the lives of others and do great things! I hope you enjoy reading “my story”.

My Family, My World

Forrest

He was born after a large Thanksgiving dinner on November 29, 1992. He has been my best friend since he was born. Forrest graduated in March 2019 from Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida with his Bachelor’s in Gaming. He will be moving to Orlando in January to pursue a Master’s at Full Sail University. Forrest is also a lead singer of a hardcore band, Deathwish, and has always been an avid lover of music. It all started with show choir in fifth grade. Forrest has a son named Cypress; the greatest gift he could have ever given me!

Creighton

He was born on Easter weekend, April 5, 1995. He has always been my helper with the house, yard, and cars. Creighton loved to be with my Dad at his truck dealership. Creighton also enjoyed my Mom’s company immensely while they gardened and engaged in various other tasks. Creighton will be attending a Lutheran Seminary in the next year to become a minister.

Harbour

He was born on Mother’s Day weekend, May 6, 1996. He was the baby of the family for 13 years and a bright ray of sunshine. He began talking when he was three using large words appropriately in sentences. He attended University of Iowa on an academic scholarship and then decided that University of Nebraska at Omaha would be a better fit. He is currently attending University of Nebraska Medical Center to become a nurse. Harbour will always be my curly headed baby.

Cassidy

I waited 40 years to have a daughter! Cassidy was born on Black Friday, November 27, 2009. This was a perfect day for her to be born being we enjoy shopping. Cassidy is everything I dreamt of my daughter being: sassy, beautiful, and smart. She is actively involved in dance and basketball. She will be dancing at Disney Epcot in June, 2019. She is my ray of sunshine on any given day!

Cypress

WOW! I love being a grandparent! Cypress was born on Leap Day, February 29, 2016. He was adorable since the minute he was born, and I told him we would have many fun adventures. My promise has come true from playing at grandma’s house, many drives around the lake, and going on grandma field trips. Cypress has brightened all of our lives in many ways!

Zoey

She is our Boxer and makes our days bright and full of laughter. She was born on July 2, 2016 and this year we had a birthday party for her. She is an emotional mess most days, but our lives wouldn’t be the same without her.

Growing Up a Titan

*I began school at Lewis Central at three years old because I would cry every time my much older siblings would get on the school bus. I attended Lewis Central from preschool to graduation.

*In second grade, I read 680 books for our reading contest and was on the front page of the Omaha World Herald for my achievement.

*I was active in high school in various activities. I participated in swimming and basketball. I was in band until I was a sophomore and choir all four years. I was also a part of student council and Future Business Leaders of America. I was very busy in high school being engaged in activities and socializing.

*My biggest influence was my parents growing up. They moved to Iowa from southern Missouri and succeeded by building a successful business together. Since I can remember my parents insisted that each of us get a college degree. I miss them both every day and cherish my memories with them.

Before Being a Teacher

*I was a junior in college studying Accounting at University of Nebraska at Omaha and met Jeff. We got married and moved to Florida, so that he could pursue a career flying in the Navy. I was a stay at home Mom with my three boys and this was when I began thinking I would enjoy teaching.

*The boys and I moved back to Council Bluffs to be with my parents and family. I began working as a manager at Younkers at the Estee Lauder counter.

*I went to observe my sorority sister Julie who taught 3rd grade. This is the day I decided to become a teacher.

*I began my journey to become a teacher September, 2002 at Buena Vista University’s satellite campus at Iowa Western Community College.

Education

*Lewis Central High School, Class of 1987

*Buena Vista University, Elementary Education, Class of 2005

*Talented and Gifted Endorsement, December 2017

*Currently Morningside College, Master’s Professional Educator

Being a Teacher

*I have worked at Lewis Central since August of 2005.

*I chose to be a teacher because of the creativity aspect and the love of teaching students to be good readers and writers.

*I want to make a difference in my students’ lives that will last a lifetime-teaching them to read and write.
