My Family

Jenny - We’ve been married for 25 years this past August 14th. She is currently the Regional VP of Youth Market for the American Heart Association. She’s from Waverly, Iowa and we met in college at the University of Northern Iowa. She loves shopping, trying new things, DQ hot fudge sundaes, and Scott Frost.

Kyler - He is 22 years old, graduated from Grand Canyon University last December, and got married to Brittany (Gerry) this past June. He is an LC graduate who played baseball and basketball, and was also the student council president. Kyler currently owns his own business called “Kyler Creative” where he’s a graphic and web designer. He’s organized, driven, creative, and talented. I’m super proud of him.

Trey - He is 19 years old and a sophomore at Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska (near Lincoln). He is majoring in communications and pitching for the Bulldog baseball team. He is an AL graduate who played baseball and basketball. He was fortunate enough to get to play in the State Basketball Tournament his junior year. Trey is spontaneous, fun, caring, funny, and talented. I’m super proud of him.

About Me...

*I grew up in Council Bluffs and went to what is now called Heartland Christian School. I had originally planned on becoming a pastor, but decided to get into teaching and coaching.

*I have one younger brother, Kevin. He played division 1 basketball at BYU in Utah and then professionally overseas.

*I grew up playing baseball, basketball, and I ran track. I was an average athlete/player, but I was competitive and wanted to make an impact on young people so I decided to be a coach.

*I got my teaching degree and coaching endorsement from the University of Northern Iowa. I also have a Master’s Degree from UNI as well.

*While at UNI, I was able to be a student-manager on the basketball team and we went to the very 1st NCAA Tournament in school history.

*One of my roommates in college (Nick Nurse) is now the head coach of the Toronto Raptors.

*My first teaching job was at Logan-Magnolia and I was there for 17 years before I came to teach at Lewis Central. I was also the head boys basketball coach there at Lo-Ma.

*At Lo-Ma, I was also the junior high girls track coach. We won a state championship in Des Moines. Also, one of my athletes that I coached ended up winning the Drake Relays multiple times. This… had nothing to do with my coaching ability. She was a terrific athlete!

*Currently, I’m in my 25th year of teaching and I’m also an assistant basketball coach at AL.

*I’ve traveled to several countries outside of the United States: Portugal, Germany, Aruba, and the Dominican Republic.

*While in college, I got to go to a Chicago Bulls playoff game and touched Michael Jordan on the shoulder. That’s my claim to fame.

*I have a strong relationship with God and I’m thankful for the many blessings He’s given me in my life.

*I’m a die-hard Husker fan - Go Big Red!!!
