Meeting with book groups and listening to students talk about books is the best part of my day! In a world filled with technology, I still believe there is nothing better than reading an actual book!
I have been a Lewis Central reading teacher in the elementary or middle school setting since 2001. I love helping a reluctant reader find the right book that helps him/her experience the joy of reading. I received my undergraduate degree from College of Saint Mary in Omaha, Nebraska, and my master’s degree from Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa. I also have a K-12 Reading endorsement.
I was born and raised in Council Bluffs, Iowa. My two daughters graduated from Lewis Central High School. They are both married and I have been blessed with three beautiful grandchildren that are the light of my life! It is true what they say…..it is a completely different experience than being the parent!
In addition to teaching, I work part time as a Respiratory Care Practitioner at Nebraska Medicine. The two careers might seem completely different, but they both involve helping others be the best they can be. Each profession helps me to see that there are so many needs in the world and that everyone’s needs are unique and important. When I’m not working at the hospital or grading papers, I enjoy spending time with my family (especially the grandchildren), traveling, biking, gardening, reading, an occasional binge watch on Netflix and crafting.
