Primary Years Programme: How the world works
Topic: Road Trip
Moonbeam class has been going on a ‘road trip’ learning about our local area. The children have been on local walks to identify human and physical features, understanding that a human feature is man-made and a physical feature is natural.
They have enjoyed exploring the architecture of buildings in our local area compared to Brutilist architecture. The children have enjoyed exploring the different shapes within Bruitilist architecture. They have also enjoyed exploring different materials and comparing and sorting objects by their material or properties.
The children have had a great time learning about the religious Hindu festival of Holi and loved joining in with our Festival of Colour.

Primary Years Programme: Where we are in place and time
Topic: Tribes and Temples
Moonbeam class has been learning about the Aztecs, focusing on Aztec clothing, Aztec homes and Aztec food. The children have been identifying similarities and differences between these from the past and the present.
They have enjoyed making their own Aztec headbands and recognising that Aztec clothing was different to clothing we have now.
Then have enjoyed building their own Aztec houses and temples and recognising that they are different to buildings now.
They have also enjoyed trying different Aztec food and recognising that this is both the same and different to food we have now.
