We’re excited to begin Module 2, where we’ll be learning all about life in Britain during the 1950s and 1960s. We’ll explore how people lived, what they wore, the food they enjoyed, the music they listened to, and the technology that shaped their world. This module, we’ll also be developing our communication skills by expressing our likes, dislikes, preferences, and feelings. In Sensology, we’ll be experiencing the changes from autumn to winter and recognising these seasonal shifts during our outdoor learning sessions. Our brand-new playground is now complete, and we can’t wait to enjoy all its amazing features — from the bike track and trim trail to the interactive music walls!

Welcome to a new academic year! We will be spending time, this module, settling into our new routines and timetables, getting to know one another, and making the most of our wonderful resources.
In our Inquiry sessions, we will be exploring the world around us in a multi-sensory, engaging, and accessible way. Together, we will learn about a range of kind and caring people from the past, including Florence Nightingale and how nurses care for others, Albert Einstein and the role of teachers, and David Attenborough and how he helps us care for the planet. We will also have opportunities to take part in and celebrate special events, such as Harvest.
In Sensology, our theme is 'Emergency Services'. Pupils will have the opportunity to track lights to represent a police search, listen to ambulance sirens, and explore bandages and water spray to represent a fire hose.
Music sessions will give us the chance to use and explore the Sound Beam, and we will also enjoy working and playing collaboratively with other classes during shared sessions, including story, playtimes and participating in celebration assemblies.
This year, in Phase 2, we are also introducing our new reading mascots to encourage a love of reading for pleasure. Our mascot is Barnaby the Badger. Each week, we will send him home to share the reading journey together. We will also be visiting our school library, on a weekly basis, with Penguin class.
