Module 3
Glacier class have enjoying learning about the Nativity and all joined in well in our sensory Nativity story. They loved dressing up as the characters in the story! We have also been exploring topical melting activities in science. The students all enjoyed making their baking soda snowmen and then dissolving them using vinegar to cause a fizzy melting reaction. They were fascinated by the results.
This week in Glacier class, the students have been exploring and comparing 2D and 3D shapes and matching them to corresponding symbols. We have been investigating length and identifying differences. Good fun was had by all in our last swimming session of the term!
This week Glacier class have been getting into the spirit of christmas by making christmas cakes, salt dough decorations and a hand print christmas tree to decorate the class with. During history we learned all about Big Ben and created our own Big Ben clock faces on biscuits and enjoyed playing a time matching game with our peers.
This week Glacier Class have been working on their self help skills and we have been promoting independence in putting on their own coats. They have also engaged in some fantastic turn taking and sharing activities with both their peers and adults.
Glacier class have demonstrated some fantastic teamwork this week during our soft play session. The boys worked very well together to create a castle! During Science this week, we looked at changes in materials and their properties. The class enjoyed this activity and were very engaged in a variety of sensory explorations.
Glacier class have been learning about Remembrance day this week and engaging in some sensory activities to mark the occasion. We have also participated in World Nursery Rhyme Week and have had lots of fun exploring different nursery rhymes and related activities.
Glacier Class have enjoyed their first week back at school. They enjoyed creating firework pictures with a variety of tools and produced some great paintings! The students have also embraced the new class breakfast shop and are using communication chatting sheets to choose the breakfast they want and are exchanging money for their food.
Glacier class really enjoyed their first forest school sessions this week. They were able to explore a range of natural materials, have an outdoor picnic with hot chocolate heated up on the fire, enjoy a relaxing sway in the hammocks and climb a tree! Good fun was had by all!
Module 2
Glacier class have been working hard in their PE lessons and enjoying exploring the balls and discovering different ways of movement with them independently or with a peer.
Glacier class have been exploring a variety of stories in different forms. We have been enjoying some quiet reading time in the book corner and participating in larger group sensory stories where we share and explore the props with our friends and join in with call and repeat lines of the story.
We have been enjoying our Horticulture lessons this term and have been busy following a visual schedule to plant a variety of seeds to observe whilst they grow in class.
Glacier class have been sharing resources and equipment well together and have really been enjoying our new lunchtime routine and all sitting together at the lunch table. It is proving a very social time of the day.
Glacier class have been excited for the 'Bake Off' cooking sessions this term. This week we made Banana bread and the students were all very engaged in exploring ingredients and following steps on a visual recipe. They turned out well and were very tasty.
Glacier class have been working hard on their reading and writing targets. We have been reading new and exciting books, practicing our letter formation and recapping on our phonic sounds.
Glacier class have been exploring numicon to identify varying amounts and their corresponding numerals. We have also been looking at shapes and investigating their properties.
Glacier class have been exploring Postmodernism art and have created some fantastic collages of their own using a variety of different materials and colors.
During RE this week, we have been learning about Rosh Hashanah which is the celebration of the Jewish New Year. We have been creating some fantastic apple prints and making Jewish New Year cards for our families.
During our science lessons, we have been exploring different states of matter. This week the students were investigating ice and observing the changes as it melts.
