This week we have enjoyed lots of outside learning activities, thanks to the warmer weather. We have been working hard on numicon shape recognition and counting as well as fine tuning our colour sorting skills. Glacier have had a lot of fun playing on the spinning top, balance boards and pedal boards, although a little unsure at first they were keen to give them another try! We had our first PE session of the Module, where we will be working on developing throwing skills, particularly the underarm throw and how we can effectively aim at a target.
LO: I can throw a bean bag at a target using an underarm throw once modelled by an adult.
LO: I can seek to gain attention in a variety of ways, drawing others into social interaction.
LO: I can recognise quantities 1-3 and match them to the numerals and numicon shapes.
LO: I will be able to use a palmer grasp to hold a variety of mark making tools to make intentional marks in a range of media, tracking the marks I make.
Welcome to Module 6! In this module, we will embark on an exciting journey to explore numbers and comparisons, African animals and their habitats, and the basics of human geography. We will learn to recognise and count numbers, understand how to compare sizes and quantities, and delve into the fascinating world of African wildlife, discovering where these animals live and how they thrive in their natural environments. Additionally, we will start to understand human geography by looking at different places where people live and recognise features of a town. Through engaging activities, stories, and hands-on learning, we will build a solid foundation in these essential concepts while celebrating the diversity and beauty of our world.
LO: I can sort items based on colour.
LO: I can copy simple writing patterns, holding my writing tool using my preferred grip.
LO: I can engage in an adult led activity for up to 1 minute with Verbal support.
It is lovely to see all of the pupils settle back into routine after a slightly longer break. There have been some changes in class with a new staff member and a new pupil joining us and Glacier have all welcomed them and built positive relationships which is lovely to see. This Term we will be exploring Egypt during our Inquiry sessions where we will be making a sensory journey to Egypt to find out what we can see, hear, feel, smell and taste. as well as, making our own pyramids and handling egyptian artefacts. We will be getting messy in science, exploring different textures of rock and beginning to sift soil and sand and sorting what we find into categories. We will continue to work hard during our ILP focussed work sessions and are very much looking forward to the increased outside learning opportunities that the warmer weather will bring! fingers crossed!!

Introduction to Module 4
Welcome back to Module 4, hopefully the new Term will also bring some lovely spring weather for us to enjoy! In our Science lessons this Term we will be exploring toys that require push and pull to operate them. We will be working on our ball skills in PE, sending and receiving balloons to a partner. We may even move on to using a racket. In Geography we will be exploring countries and continents, visiting a new place each week and finding out about it using our senses. We will also be working hard on transitions around school. Module 4 also brings Holi and Easter celebrations.

Module 3
Transdisciplinary Theme: Who are we?
Central Idea: Our different experiences make us unique and special
Lines of Inquiry:
The environment around me is subject to to change
There are many different important people in my life
External experiences make me happy or unhappy
The human body can be healthy or unhealthy
Phase 2 has had a wonderful Module 3 and we have thoroughly enjoyed collaborating to explore the key curriculum themes. We continue to host our Wednesday inquiry-based afternoon sessions, exploring different sensory activities to promote independence, social skills and language development. These sessions have been particularly successful and students have formed meaningful friendships within and outside of their classrooms. In Art we have all contributed to creating an Eric Carle inspired masterpiece, based on the different seasons. During our science sessions, we have explored different plants in addition to growing our own class plants. In PSPD we have worked incredibly hard on sharing our space and building relationships which have been reflected in our playtime activities and activity sessions. We thoroughly enjoyed Storytelling Week during which we all visited different classes to share a sensory session, filled with different props and exciting adventures.

We are getting better and better at using our Picture Exchange Communication Systems (PECS) books, signing and chatty sheets to help us communicate. This has been very successful and we have even shown off to the speech and language team. We have been following the IB curriculum through our topic work, child initiated and individual learning time to connect all our learning ideas together. We have celebrated the season of light festivals through Diwali, fireworks night and Christmas activities and have enjoyed exploring a range of habitats using science exploration skills. Also we have had lots of exciting science experiments in our what’s in the bucket activities where all students engage well and love. Glacier have had fun trips to Bean park as well as Sainsburys cafe and of course our Christnas trip to Monkey Bizz.
Learning Objective: Accepts interaction with another person e.g. receives or gives an object. Sometimes shows interest in the actions of peers. Indicates like/dislike of presented activity. Accepts close proximity of another person during an activity.
Learning Objective: Uses fingers or toes to spread or rake paint, foam or similar material across a surface. Can pick up small objects with a developing pincer grasp.

Everyone has settled into the new academic year and is becoming familiar with their new environment and routines. We have been enjoying Write Dance lessons, helping us with our gross and fine motor skills by copying movements to music. This term we have been looking at ‘up and down’ movements. Everyone has been engaged and really enjoying using sensory media to practice the movements. We have recently started going out in the community and our first outing was a visit to Springhead park. We have also enjoyed visits to our sensory garden, where we picked our own homegrown pumpkins for Halloween, the class really enjoyed exploring them.
Develop
Learning Objective: Participates in shared activities with less support. Explores materials in increasingly complex ways. Seeks attention through eye contact, gesture or action.
Learning Objective: Shares and takes turns with adult support. Increasingly interacts with other children, with adult support. Shows an interest in new toys and activities. Is able to sit and work independently for up to 5 minutes. Explores and experiments with a range of media through sensory exploration, and using whole body.
Learning Objective: Attempts new activity with adult support. Shows awareness of matching (the same). Shows understanding of the concept of "more". Experiments, e.g. if a piece doesn’t fit in one hole, tries it in another. Attempts, sometimes successfully, to fit shapes into spaces on inset boards or jigsaw puzzles.
